Meghan Markle popularity drops below Duchess Camilla’s

According to a YouGov poll, Meghan Markle’s popularity has reached an all-time low. In fact, the Duchess of Sussex is currently less popular than Duchess Camilla, who has long been a subject of British negativity.

YouGov, a data and research firm, has published the latest findings of a rolling poll on the popularity of the Royal Family’s 15 most influential members. Meghan is now trailing Camilla, who was once called the “most hated woman in Britain” according to respondents surveyed between October and December 2020.

According to a recent poll commissioned by YouGov, Duchess Meghan’s decision to step down as a senior royal in favor of a new start in the United States has severely harmed her reputation.

Meghan is currently ranked 11th in the top 15 royal popularity rankings.

32 percent of the 1,515 British adults polled have a favorable opinion of the Duchess, while 25% have a neutral opinion.

However, a whopping 40% of those polled have a negative opinion of the Duchess of Sussex.

About a dozen high-ranking members of the royal family perform public-facing roles. The ordinary citizen, though, does not like everyone. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is widely regarded as one of the most unpopular royals. Despite this, she is now more popular than Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

The findings differ from those of previous research undertaken prior to the royal departure in 2020. Meghan was seen as a “fortress” for the Crown following her marriage to Prince Harry, according to the same polling house in 2018.

Meghan appears to be more popular with millennials, or those born between 1981 and 1996, with 41% of those surveyed in this age group holding a favorable opinion of her.

However, by older generations, she is seen in a less favorable way.

When members of Generation X, those born between 1965 and 1980, are polled, 28 percent have a favorable view of Meghan, a figure that slips to 26 percent when Baby Boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, are included.

Camilla was first known when it was reported that she was Prince Charles’ mistress. Princess Diana, who was married to Charles at the time, told journalists how her husband’s adultery had devastated her. As a result, many people sided with Diana and saw her as a victim of the royal family.

Since Diana’s death in 1997, Charles and Camilla maintained a quiet relationship. They married in 2005, despite the fact that Camilla was still disliked by the public at the time.

Camilla, on the other hand, has been able to increasingly alter her public profile. For instance, she keeps her personal life private and avoids causing scandals by acting in uncontroversial ways. Furthermore, if she is seen, she is typically advocating for important issues such as child literacy, women’s health, and sexual harassment awareness.

Despite coming in ninth overall, Duchess Camilla was arguably the survey’s winner, as she was finally able to reach the Top 10.

Between October and December 2020, 1,430 people were polled, with 37 percent having a favorable opinion of the Duchess of Cornwall, 30 having a neutral opinion, and 26 having a negative opinion.

Unlike Meghan, Camilla is more popular with Baby Boomers, with 51% viewing her in a good light.

The Duchess of Cornwall is seen positively by 33 percent of Generation X members and 27 percent of Millennials, respectively.

Prince William and Queen Elizabeth II, unsurprisingly, dominated the popularity poll published this week. Prince Andrew was ranked 15th out of 15 in the poll, while Princess Anne and Duchess Kate were also in the Top 5. The complete list, ranked by percentage of approval:

15) Prince Andrew

14) Princess Beatrice

13) Prince Edward

12) Princess Eugenie

11) Duchess Meghan

10) Countess Sophie

9) Duchess Camilla

8) Prince Harry

7) Prince Charles

6) Zara Phillips

5) Prince Philip

4) Princess Anne

3) Duchess Kate

2) Queen Elizabeth II

1) Prince William

Meghan became a member of the royal family in 2018 when she married Prince Harry. Her wedding drew worldwide interest, but it does not seem that her popularity has grown over time.

Meghan’s ratings could have plummeted as a result of “Megxit” in early 2020. She and Harry made the decision to leave their positions as senior royals to work for financial independence. They have, however, been chastised for attempting to live a glamorous lifestyle in Hollywood and for failing to be politically neutral enough as royals.
