According to a YouGov poll, Meghan Markle’s popularity has reached an all-time low. In fact, the Duchess of Sussex is currently less popular than Duchess Camilla, who has long been a subject of British negativity.

YouGov, a data and research firm, has published the latest findings of a rolling poll on the popularity of the Royal Family’s 15 most influential members. Meghan is now trailing Camilla, who was once called the “most hated woman in Britain” according to respondents surveyed between October and December 2020.

According to a recent poll commissioned by YouGov, Duchess Meghan’s decision to step down as a senior royal in favor of a new start in the United States has severely harmed her reputation.

Meghan is currently ranked 11th in the top 15 royal popularity rankings.

32 percent of the 1,515 British adults polled have a favorable opinion of the Duchess, while 25% have a neutral opinion.

Camilla, on the other hand, has been able to increasingly alter her public profile. For instance, she keeps her personal life private and avoids causing scandals by acting in uncontroversial ways. Furthermore, if she is seen, she is typically advocating for important issues such as child literacy, women’s health, and sexual harassment awareness.

Despite coming in ninth overall, Duchess Camilla was arguably the survey’s winner, as she was finally able to reach the Top 10.

Between October and December 2020, 1,430 people were polled, with 37 percent having a favorable opinion of the Duchess of Cornwall, 30 having a neutral opinion, and 26 having a negative opinion.

Unlike Meghan, Camilla is more popular with Baby Boomers, with 51% viewing her in a good light.

The Duchess of Cornwall is seen positively by 33 percent of Generation X members and 27 percent of Millennials, respectively.

Prince William and Queen Elizabeth II, unsurprisingly, dominated the popularity poll published this week. Prince Andrew was ranked 15th out of 15 in the poll, while Princess Anne and Duchess Kate were also in the Top 5. The complete list, ranked by percentage of approval:

Meghan became a member of the royal family in 2018 when she married Prince Harry. Her wedding drew worldwide interest, but it does not seem that her popularity has grown over time.

Meghan’s ratings could have plummeted as a result of “Megxit” in early 2020. She and Harry made the decision to leave their positions as senior royals to work for financial independence. They have, however, been chastised for attempting to live a glamorous lifestyle in Hollywood and for failing to be politically neutral enough as royals.
