Mel Gibson has refuted shocking allegations that he pushed and abused a female photojournalist in Sydney.

The actor allegedly shoved, spit on, and yelled at an Australian photographer over the weekend for attempting to take images of the 59-year-old actor exiting an Australian Israeli Film Festival with his considerably younger girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 24.

The actor and director was reportedly leaving the Palance Verona theater in the Sydney neighborhood of Paddington on Sunday with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, according to Miller (August 23).

The Oscar-winning actor has refuted allegations, calling them “total fiction.”

Kristi Miller, a reporter for The Daily Telegraph, claimed to her bosses that she thought the 59-year-old actor might strike her during the alleged altercation, which she claimed was resolved when his 24-year-old girlfriend, Rosalind Ross, intervened.

Miller claimed to the publication: “I took a photo of Mel and his girlfriend and when I turned around he shoved my back really hard … It shocked me because I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t know if it was his hands or elbow.”

She claimed that when Mel’s partner stepped in, the fight ended.

She claims the event left her frightened, and police are looking into it.

‘I thought he was going to punch me in the face,’ the photographer and mother-of three says.

‘He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I’m not even a human being, and I will go to hell. He swore and called me a ‘c**t. It was non stop, he didn’t even breathe.’

Alan Neirob, Gibson’s publicist, has refuted any claims of physical contact.  “Basically Mr Gibson and his friend were being harassed by this photographer and he asked her repeatedly to stop, which she did not.”

“There was never any physical contact whatsoever and the story being told by her is a complete fabrication of the truth.”

Police are reportedly looking into the allegations.

“About 6.20 last night a man became involved in an altercation with a photographer outside a cinema on Oxford Street Paddington and allegedly pushed the female photographer,” a police spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.

“Police from the Surry Hills local area command are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Gibson’s past violent outbursts have been publicly documented.

He was the subject of a raging controversy in 2006 after allegations that, after being pulled over for drunk driving, he went on an anti-Semitic rant.

The ultra-conservative Catholic Oscar winner is claimed to have uttered the following to deputy sheriff James Mee: “F****** Jews. The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.’

It was claimed Gibson then asked: ‘Are you a Jew?’
