Archie celebrated his second birthday this week, and the royal family commemorated the occasion with sweet well-wishes on social media.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry supporters, on the other hand, were swift to point out that the Duchess of Sussex was not included in Prince Charles’ message to his grandson.

Prince Charles and Camilla both wished the toddler a happy birthday on social media. However, Meghan was noticeably absent from their picture.

“Happy birthday to Archie, who turns two today.” the successor to the throne and his wife posted alongside a photo that Harry and Meghan posted on Father’s Day, featuring Harry with his father and son at his christening.

According to the Daily Star Online, royal fans questioned why Charles didn’t share a picture with Archie’s mother Meghan, and why the future king’s official Instagram account didn’t share related updates on Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ birthdays lately.

Following Megxit and the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, royal commentator Duncan Larcombe told Fabulous magazine that Meghan’s absence from the picture may be a “deliberate” snub.

“It’s pretty daft to leave her [Meghan] out of it given that it wasn’t that many weeks ago she was American TV throwing accusations about the royal family left, right and centre,” he explained.

“I see that as a deliberate sign of Prince Charles.

“Surely Prince Charles has enough nous to know how sensitive the situation is with his younger son and his wife.

“I’d be very surprised if Prince Charles didn’t know exactly what he was doing.

He speculated that the shot was Charles’ “favourite” or that it was “likely one of the few pictures that he has” of him with Archie.

Charles, 72, is said to have not seen his grandson in person in at least 18 months.

Duncan clarified, though, that the birthday message had “every intention” of wishing Archie a happy birthday and was “not an olive branch”

“Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today,” a statement on the Royal Family’s official Instagram and Twitter accounts read.

Prince William and Kate Middleton posted a photo from Archie’s christening, which took place when he was just two months old.

When Archie was about six months old, Harry and Meghan traveled to Canada, and eventually to Los Angeles, as they left their jobs as senior royals.

Although others saw the letter from Clarence House as a “olive branch” to the Sussexes amid a divide between them and the Royal Family, Mr Larcombe did not.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor weighed 7lb 3oz when he was delivered on May 6, 2019.

For his birthday, Meghan and Harry posted a new picture of the toddler, which shows him holding a huge set of balloons with his back to the camera.
