Prince Harry Was Mistaken for a Christmas Tree Salesman While HolidayShopping
Even though they reside in sunny California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t skip traditional Christmas decorations.
At Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito, California residence, it’s starting to look a lot like Christmas. The couple recently went to a local Christmas tree lot to get their first tree for their family’s new home, and the visit included a pretty amusing gaffe from one of their fellow customers.
Harry, a prince with three middle names whose birth made international news, was recently mistaken for a Christmas tree barn labourer in California.
The prince stood down from his royal duties about a year ago and is said to be already mistaken for a commoner. According to the Daily Mail, the British prince was with wife Meghan Markle when a small kid approached him, believing he was a salesman. The blunder is thought to have occurred on December 1st, when the couple went to a local pop-up merchant in quest of the right tree for their Montecito estate. After stepping down as senior royals in early 2020, the couple will spend the festive season in the United States for the first time.
According to reports at the time, an agreement was made for Harry and Meghan to be let into the shop while it was vacant, but one family was still inside.

According to store salesperson James Almaguer, the joyful kid raced through the trees to the duke and “asked if he worked here”
He went on to call Harry, 36, a “chill lad” and Megan, 39, “very kind”
“Meghan and Prince Harry came into my work today and we sold them their Christmas Tree,” @imaJaaaaaames wrote. “We had our lot empty when they got there – their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down. There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here not knowing who that is.”
“They seem like very nice people honestly,’ he said. ‘Meghan sounds very kind and Harry sounded and acted like a chill lad honestly. I’m really glad they liked our trees. We got the best we could get. Very appreciative.”
Now that Harry is free to work in a non-royal capacity, perhaps Christmas tree salesperson meets the bill?
Let us examine the facts:
1) He sports a beard. And not just any beard, but the kind that would deliberately inspire you to get a Christmas tree. Facial hair isn’t an intrinsically hireable feature, but I’d argue that reasoning breaks down when it comes to anything remotely related to forestry.
2) He looks to be physically capable of carrying a tree. This is no minor achievement, and it is most likely a necessary talent in the Christmas tree industry.
3) His name is Prince Harry. With his endearing accent and status as a high-level celebrity, it would be tough to turn down a personal sales pitch from the Duke of Sussex. Look around, that’s what the Christmas season is all about… celebrities selling you things you don’t need!
Meghan and Harry were said to be at Big Wave Dave’s Christmas Trees & Pumpkin Patch, which was put up in tents in a Macy’s parking lot approximately eight miles away from their $14.7 million residence. The pair, who just relocated to California with their one-year-old son Archie, may have retired from royal responsibilities, but they are still very much in the public spotlight.
This year, Harry and Meghan are expected to spend Christmas in California with their son Archie.
The pair had apparently been asked to spend Christmas with the rest of the royals in Sandringham.
“There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and planning of the family Christmas,” a source told Page Six. “Of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming.”
“If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now.
“But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her.”
Meanwhile, the Queen is believed to be looking forward to her annual family gathering.
Her Majesty is expected to visit Sandringham on or around Friday, December 17.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children, will be among the Christmas guests.
