Meghan Markle allegedly told her top aides to “make her the most famous person on earth,” according to a royal expert.

Meghan told her PR team she wanted to be the most famous celebrity in the world, according to Lady Campbell, who wrote Meghan and Harry: The Real Story. And this mission that could only be accomplished by being “controversial.”

According to Campbell, the American actress had been pursuing commercial and political activities normally off-limits to the royals with the support of her husband in the year leading up to the dramatic Megxit.

The controversial royal novelist said she learnt the former American actress, who married Britain’s Prince Harry in 2018, was “getting up to all sorts of things in America that she was strictly forbidden from doing as a royal.”

“Mostly Meghan, but with Harry’s connivance,” the 71-year-old said on Graham Norton’s BBC radio program on Saturday, accusing the 39-year-old of dabbling in both business and political ventures.

Campbell said: “I started writing that book because last year I knew privately that Meghan – with Harry’s connivance was getting up to all sorts of things in America that she was completely forbidden from doing as a royal.

“Getting involved with commercial enterprises, flying kites in terms of politics – because she’s very political – and also instructing her PR people that they were to make her into the most famous person on earth.

“To be the most famous person on earth, it’s a very deliberate policy and it has to involve a tremendous amount of controversy, otherwise you’re just not that famous.”

“I think it’s history in the making, and I don’t care if she ends up being the most famous person on Earth or not. I [just] care that there is an interesting story to be told.”

Lady Campbell said Meghan and Harry tried to interfere when they found out she was writing about them.

“They did try to influence the narrative through mutual friends,” she added.

“In January this year, Harry on Megan’s behalf got a great friend of his to try and sell me a load of rubbish about Meghan and her relationship with her father.

“I absolutely erupted because I have a pretty fiery temper and I knew it was completely untrue.”

It comes after the Jamaican-born author said Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Royal Family began to display ‘warning’ signs just four days after her wedding to Prince Harry.

Campbell published “Meghan and Harry: The Real Story” before the bombshell book “Finding Freedom,” written by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was released this summer. The book aims to provide a “behind-the-scenes authoritative account” on Markle and Harry’s whirlwind romance, high-profile marriage, and decision to step back as senior members of the British royal family.

Campbell, who previously wrote a book on Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, said she interviewed royals, past and present courtiers, fellow aristocrats, and mutual well-connected acquaintances for her new book.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry resigned from their top royal positions at the end of March and are currently based in Santa Barbara, California.

Since leaving the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex has attended a number of events, including a “backyard chat” with feminist icon Gloria Steinem and a speech with campaigner Malala Yousafzai to commemorate International Day Of The Girl.

Meghan made a political statement with a T-shirt yesterday in honor of late US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Last month, she and Harry were chastised for ‘interfering in US politics’ for speaking out on the approaching presidential election.

They urged voters to “reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity,” with Meghan describing the election as “the most important election of our lifetime.”
