Meghan and Prince Harry ‘break traditional dinner party etiquette’ as they insist on ‘frowned upon PDA,’ Reportedly Annoying Their Friends
Meghan, 38, has now been chastised for breaking British dinner party etiquette.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no longer invited to certain dinner parties because they are known to violate etiquette with “affectionate dinner-table PDA.”
The major problem here is that Meghan and Harry have been “insisting” on sitting close to one other and “rejoicing in affectionate dinner-table PDAs.”
Long-standing traditions for elegant English dinner parties state that a couple should not sit next to one other, but Meghan has rejected this kind of dinner party etiquette as “exclusive” and “traditional.”
It seems to have ruffled Harry’s feathers, as his social circle ‘roll their eyes’ at her ‘American ways.’

Meghan and Harry are said to have surprised other guests and the hosts with their beahviour, which is “frowned upon.”
Couples are placed apart to avoid public displays of love that could “[put] guests off their food.”
According to Grant Harrold, a specialist on royal etiquette who was previously the butler to the Prince of Wales, if the story is accurate, Meghan and Prince Harry would be violating decorum by disregarding their host’s seating arrangement.
“Normal dining rules state that couples are split up with they enter the dining room. The idea is to mix couples up to help with conversation,” Harrold told INSIDER.
“An old etiquette rule is that the most senior female guest will sit on the right of the male host, and the most senior male will sit on the hostess’ right,” Harrold said. “You would see this in the dining scenes on programmes such as ‘Downton Abbey.'”
While there are exceptions to this etiquette at certain royal gatherings, Harrold noted that “these rules should apply to them” on most occasions.
He went on to say: “The conversation should begin with the male host talking to his guest on his right for the starter and main course and then will turn and speak with the second senior female guest on his left for the pudding and coffee.
“This should cause a chain reaction around the dining table so everyone has the opportunity to speak to the guest either side for the same amount of time.”
According to the Mail on Sunday’s Talk of the Town column, the mother of one chooses who she seats next to at dinner parties.
The publication wrote: ‘So imagine the horror when Meghan first burst into Prince Harry’s dinner party circuit and dismissed the etiquette as ‘exclusive’ and ‘traditional’ (terms that it should be noted are rarely used disparagingly in Royal circles).’
‘Kinder members of society roll their eyes and whisper that the poor lamb can’t help being Américaine,’ explained columnist Charlotte Griffiths.
There are three ‘placement’ criteria that guests must observe when it comes to society seating arrangements.
To prevent seeming “common” or “American,” it must always be pronounced in the French manner, emphasizing all three syllables.
Second, according to the Daily Mail, there are no PDAs or lovey-dovey behavior allowed during dinner parties.
Finally, one must always sit where one is put in order to avoid disrupting the delicate social balancing act that is placement.
Fans of Harry and Meghan will be familiar with the couple’s public displays of love. They were the most intimate of all the royal couples, according to royal photographer Tim Rooke.
“On my recent trip to Northern Ireland with Harry and Meghan, it was hard to not notice the amount of time she spent looking lovingly into his eyes,” he added.
“I’ve not seen this much affection between two royals in my decades of shooting. They are much more affectionate in public than other royal couples.
“The Sussexes are often holding hands if cameras are there or not. They’re such an authentic couple, and every time I photograph them you can sense the love and affection they have for each other.”
Duncan Larcombe, a royal analyst, claims that Her Majesty has a close bond with Meghan Markle that seems to be distinct from the one she had with Princess Diana of Wales, and that the same degree of care was “never afforded” to Kate Middleton.
Meghan is no stranger to violating the rules, as she recently demonstrated when it came to Wimbledon etiquette.
In a surprise visit to see her BFF Serena Williams play in the event, she wore jeans in the exclusive members’ only area.
Her outfit, which featured a Panama hat, also prevented her from being admitted to the Royal Box.
