Queen Elizabeth is delighted to have another great-grandchild on the way. The Queen made a nice remark regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement earlier today that they were expecting their second child.

“Her Majesty, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are ‘delighted’ and wish them well,” a palace spokesperson said in a statement, referring particularly to Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and Prince Charles.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” said a spokesperson for the pair on Sunday, Feb. 14. Harry and Meghan, who had a miscarriage in July 2020, have yet to provide any more information about her pregnancy at this time. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bundle of joy, however, will join their 21-month-old son Archie in the family.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the joyous news with the royal family before making it public.

There isn’t much information on the new Baby Sussex yet, including the child’s projected due date. What is evident is Harry and Meghan’s excitement about their growing family. “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother,” stated a representative for the pair. To commemorate the occasion, the royal couple shared a charming photo taken remotely by their old friend Misan Harriman.

Harry can be seen smiling at his wife, who is laying on his knees with one hand on her developing baby tummy, in the photo, which was shot outside beneath a beautiful display of trees.

Meghan chose a flowing Carolina Herrera gown for the portrait, which she initially wore while she was pregnant with Archie, adding an extra depth to the emotional photograph.

“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow,” Misan captioned the photo of the couple’s announcement on social media. “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”

Meghan and Harry’s first child, Archie Harrison, will be two in May.

Depending on whether the baby arrives before Zara Tindall’s baby, expected in 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan’s second child will be the Queen’s 10th or 11th grandchild.

This week has been a huge one for royal baby news. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, a healthy boy weighing 8lbs 1oz, was born last Tuesday, according to the royal family. “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present,” read a statement from the Windsors.

The announcement occurred on the 37th anniversary of Princess Diana purportedly revealing on Valentine’s Day, 1984, that she was pregnant with her second son, Harry.

Last year, Meghan and Harry formally relinquished their positions as senior royals.

Their yearning for a normal family life played a factor in their historic decision. According to a palace source, when Archie was born, “they knew they were going to hit the nuclear button” on their royal leave.
