Rupert Grint didn’t want to kiss Emma Watson in Harry Potter
Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, one of the three major characters in the “Harry Potter,” film series, has allegedly said that he did not want to kiss Emma Watson during their kissing sequence.
In the final wizarding film, Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger became more than friends, much to the dismay of the real-life duo, who had known one other since they were toddlers.
Rupert Grint, who portrayed Ron opposite Emma Watson’s Hermione in the Harry Potter films, told PEOPLE on Friday at Universal Orlando’s three-day Celebration of Harry Potter event, “I never look back at that scene.”
“I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship. And it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, ‘Oh my God.’ I can’t really remember anything apart from that.”
Fortunately, the high-pressure scene only required “one take.” Watson found the experience moderately traumatic.

“Rupert was the weirdest. Dan [Radcliffe] wasn’t so bad,” she told OK! Magazine. “I just had to remind myself, ‘I am an actress. I am Hermione. This is a role.’ But it was really hard. We just have so much history together. They are like my brothers.”
She went on to say, “Dan and I could sort of have a laugh about it. Whereas Rupert’s a bit more quiet so I didn’t really know what he was thinking which made me a bit more nervous.”
Grint, along with previous co-stars Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Katie Leung (Cho Chang), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), and Evanna Lynch, attended the three-day Wizarding World of Harry Potter event (Luna Lovegood).
On Sunday, Wright posted to Instagram to commemorate the Weasley family reunion.
“Family time,” she captioned a photo of herself beaming next to a smirking Grint.
“Moonwalkers,” Rupert’s most recent feature, was released earlier this month.
