Seth Rogen Confirms Emma Watson Stormed Off The Set Of His Movie after refusing to do a controversial gimp scene
Seth Rogen has corroborated the claim that Emma Watson stormed off the set of 2013 comedy This Is the End, which has been circulating for some time.
On a Tumblr post posted by a film extra, Rogen was asked to clarify a claim that Watson refused to participate in a sequence in which Danny McBride, who portrayed a cannibal in the film, had to walk Channing Tatum on a leash as his gimp.
“I mean, I don’t look back on that and think, ‘How dare she do that?'” Rogen said in an interview with British GQ for the May issue, in response to the interviewer bringing up the story. “You know? I think sometimes when you read something, when it comes to life it doesn’t seem to be what you thought it was.
However, the actor/writer went on to claim that his working relationship with Watson on that film was far from over. “But it was not some terrible ending to our relationship,” he explained. “She came back the next day to say goodbye. She helped promote the film. No hard feelings and I couldn’t be happier with how the film turned out in the end.”

Seth added, “She was probably right. It was probably funnier the way we ended up doing it.”
This Is the End was written and directed by Rogen (together with Evan Goldberg) and starred Rogen, James Franco, McBride, Watson, and Rihanna as heightened versions of themselves attempting to escape an apocalypse that occurs while they’re at a Hollywood party.
Rogen also revealed on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show how he got the Magic Mike actor to play a leather-clad sex slave in the first place, demonstrating his humorous and persuasive ability through email.
‘The gimp is wearing a wrestling mask, and when he pulls it up we would love nothing more than for it to be you underneath …,’ the email to Tatum said. ‘Please don’t take this the wrong way or be insulted by this. We just think it’s a great joke and you would be great doing it.’
Rogen’s book, which can best be defined as a memoir, is set to be released in May, and in typical Seth Rogen manner, it doesn’t appear to be very traditional. According to British GQ, it’s more of a collection of questionably suitable anecdotes from his life than a collection of industry stories that teach followers how he made it.
He told British GQ, “Honestly in many ways, that was the biggest thing to overcome in my head: to demystify what a book was and what it meant to people. And I wanted to frame it as entertainment and not, like, a deep look at how Seth Rogen came to be.”
