Emma Watson, a Hollywood actress, says she finds headlines sexualizing her “deeply irritating”
The actress spoke with The Times about the continuous overabundance of attention her love scenes receive in the news, particularly when they are linked to her childhood role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter books. The most recent example is a teaser for the film Colonia, which includes a few seconds of Watson in bed with her co-star Daniel Brühl.
“Emma Watson indulges in passionate display with Daniel Brühl as they roll around on the bed,” according to the first paragraph, and Watson is “going far to prove she’s not the goody-two shoes Harry Potter character Hermione Granger anymore”.
Emma stated in an interview with The Times that such headlines have not gone ignored.
“Yes, three and half seconds of nude pictures which were not particularly risqué,” she said. “It’s deeply irritating.”

“I’m 26 now,” she added. “I’ve been in 15 films in total and me kissing somebody else shouldn’t be risqué or horrifying, but I think that will continue for a long time. There have been lots of advantages to being part of that franchise [Harry Potter], and playing that role for a long time, but inevitably there are obstacles and that’s one of them.”
Anything Watson says about sex will undoubtedly make news. Her statement earlier this year that she used a website called “OMGYes” which combines scientific and academic research to better understand female sexuality, made headlines across the world.
