According to a royal commentator, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s “repeated attacks” was a “terrifying prospect” for the Royal Family.

Daniela Elser, a royal expert said that that the monarchy “simply cannot afford too much more of a reputational clobbering”.

Ms Elser, writing for the New Zealand Herald, said: “For the Royal Family, how long can they withstand these repeated attacks before they cause irreparable damage, if they haven’t already?

“The palace might have come through the last few months dinged and a bit battered but otherwise intact but a sustained campaign is another terrifying prospect for them altogether.

“While overall 63 percent of Britons think Britain should continue to have a monarchy, that figure falls dangerously low to a measly 34 percent of 18-24 year-olds.

“Given this, the palace simply cannot afford too much more of a reputational clobbering.”

Elser added: “In hindsight, the Sussexes’ Oprah appearance wasn’t a global purging or a cathartic release but what looks increasingly like the firing of a starting gun.”

Prince Harry has been accused of openly humiliating his grandfather, Prince Philip, just weeks after he died at the age of 99.

Harry said he urgently wants to “break the cycle” of “genetic pain and suffering” created by royal upbringing on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.

And now a royal analyst has blasted Prince Harry for tossing several members of The Firm under the bus, calling him “shameless.”

“He believes this himself, and mental health is a big, big issue out there, but come on – really to keep harping on like this is getting embarrassing,” royal expert Robert Jobson said on the Australian breakfast show Sunrise.

“To criticise his father for his parenting skills, but also the Queen and Prince Philip, who only just had his funeral – he’s only just lost his grandfather. I think it smacks of pretty shameless behaviour.”

Palace aides have blasted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, insisting that they relinquish their names.

Harry’s recent “disgraceful” assault on the royal family has left the palace feeling “bewildered and betrayed”, according to senior courtiers.

One aide tells The Mail on Sunday, “People are appalled that he could do this to the Queen when the Duke of Edinburgh is barely in his grave,” “To drag his grandfather into this is so shocking and disrespectful.

“The Duke of Sussex has now spent a significant amount of time emphasising that he’s no different to anyone else and attacking the institution which he says has caused him so much pain. There is a growing feeling that if you dislike the institution that much, you shouldn’t have the titles.”

Another person said, “They should put the titles into abeyance, so they still exist, but are not used, like they agreed to do with their HRHs. They should just become Harry and Meghan. And if they refuse to do that, they have to explain why not.”
