Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Pay Tribute To 9/11 Victims, List Names Of almost 3,000
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are paying tribute to those who died on September 11, 2001.
On the homepage of their Archewell Foundation website, the couple displayed all 2,977 names of those murdered at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on United Flight 93.
To honor the solemn occasion, the duke and duchess of Sussex chose a charcoal grey color scheme for the homepage. Terrorists hijacked four planes in 2001, two of which fell into the World Trade Centers, one of which hit the Pentagon building, and the fourth of which crashed in Pennsylvania. Despite the fact that the assault took place on American territory, it resulted in the deaths of citizens from over 90 other nations. More than 6,000 individuals were also hurt.
The assaults killed 2,977 people, including 340 firemen and 72 police officers, making it the worst terrorist attack in history.
In addition, Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, hosted a special service in England to honor the victims of 9/11.
“The Star-Spangled Banner” was played at the Changing of the Guard at Windsor Castle on Saturday morning.
Despite the fact that Queen Elizabeth II was not there, the homage was heartfelt. Philip T. Reeker, a distinguished guest and acting US Ambassador, spoke openly about the poignant memorial.
He told the reporters, “We’re incredibly grateful to the gesture by Her Majesty, the queen,” “The playing of our National Anthem today at the Changing of the Guard represents the friendship, the solidary between our two countries,” he said, adding, “I think this has shown that the special relationship remains so crucial to all of us.”
The Queen made a statement to President Joe Biden in addition to the symbolic gesture.
“As we mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible attacks on 11th September 2001, my thoughts and prayers — and those of my family and the entire nation — remain with the victims, survivors and families affected, as well as the first responders and rescue workers called to duty,” she wrote.
“My visit to the site of the World Trade Center in 2010 is held fast in my memory,” she said in her statement. “It reminds me that as we honour those from many nations, faith and backgrounds who lost their lives, we also pay tribute to the resilience and determination of the communities who joined together to rebuild.”
