Meghan Markle’s mother is helping out with baby Lilibet
Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle’s mother, is “overjoyed to welcome her new granddaughter,” according to Page Six.
Ragland was not there during Lilibet’s birth, but has been assisting her daughter and son-in-law since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on June 4, according to an US Weekly.
“They’ve had lots of lovely gifts sent from friends and family members including Doria, but the most special thing she’s provided is her time,” the insider added.
“Meghan’s so grateful to have her mom to lean on, and Harry just adores her.”
The 7lb 11oz baby, whose middle name is Diana, was delivered in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California on Friday evening, British time, at a private hospital where deliveries may cost up to £20,000.

Meghan and Harry relocated to California last year, where Doria is based and where she grew up. Even before the royal couple moved, the former social worker found a way to help, spending several weeks in England when Archie was born in 2019.
In a photo released of the Queen and Prince Philip seeing their great-grandson for the first time, she was seen smiling.
When the duchess had a miscarriage last summer, Markle’s mother was allegedly present for them as well.
In November 2020, after Markle revealed her miscarriage in an op-ed for The New York Times, an unidentified insider told Us Weekly, “She’s guiding Harry and Meghan — helping them heal and come to terms with their painful loss. But for anyone who has suffered from a miscarriage, it’s something you never fully get over.”
It’s also reported that the baby’s name, ‘Lili,’ is a nod to Doria, who has always referred to Meghan as ‘her flower.’
The former Suits star said this in a post on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
“Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little),” Markle wrote.
According to Meghan’s biographers, Doria was also the one who informed her ex-husband Thomas Markle about the birth of her grandchild.
“Doria messaged Thomas with the news, which Meghan had asked her to,” co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in their 2020 book “Finding Freedom.”
“The new mother did not want him to find out after the rest of the world. But she didn’t want to know whether her father replied to her mother’s text.”
“They are so in love with her, and she’s absolutely beautiful. She’s a cross between Harry and Meghan,” the insider says, adding that the newest addition to the family is “more perfect” than the pair could have ever hoped.
Despite his rocky relationship with his youngest son, Prince Charles, 72, appears delighted that Lili has arrived. Although he has yet to meet his granddaughter, he described her birth as “such happy news” on a recent outing.
It comes as specialists suggest Lilibet might be a ‘Band-Aid baby,’ assisting in the ‘return of the family to some sort of normalcy.’
The arrival of the Queen’s 11th grandchild comes only days before Prince William and Harry are set to reconnect in public for the installation of their late mother Princess Diana’s statue at Kensington Palace to commemorate her 60th birthday.
‘Before she is even a month old, Lilibet could yet prove herself to be a “Band-Aid baby” – a sticking plaster in Royal form to return the family to some form of normality after the turbulent year and a half since Megxit sparked several rounds of very public – and occasionally painful – soul-baring,’ Angela Levin said in an interview with The Telegraph.
