Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in new Lifetime movie : Escaping the Palace
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s break up with the royal family is explored in Lifetime’s third film on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Jordan Dean and Sydney Morton will play the former royals.
It’s called The Great Escape: Royal Edition, or Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace on Lifetime. Later this year, a fictitious version of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s intention to quit as senior royal staff members will be released.
Jordan Whalen narrates his role as Prince William, Laura Mitchell reprises her role as Kate Middleton, Steve Coulter reprises his role as Prince Charles, Maggie Sullivun reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth II, Melanie Nicholls-King reprises her role as Doria Ragland, Bonnie Soper reprises her role as Princess Diana, Deborah Ramsay reprises her role as Camilla, and James Dreyfus reprises his role as palace insider Leonard.
Lifetime fans witnessed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Royal Romance in 2018, then watched as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on their journey to Becoming Royal a year later, and will soon see a breakdown of the couple’s dramatic retelling of their exit from royal life in Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace.

Following Parisa Fitz-Henry and Murray Fraser in Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance and Tiffany Smith and Charlie Field in Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal in 2019, Dean and Morton are the third couple to play Harry and Meghan.
Jordan Whalen (Prince William), Laura Mitchell (Kate Middleton), Steve Coulter (Prince Charles), Maggie Sullivun (Queen Elizabeth II), Melanie Nicholls-King (Doria Ragland), Bonnie Soper (Princess Diana), Deborah Ramsay (Camilla), and James Dreyfus (palace insider Leonard) are among the cast members who will return for the film, along with executive producers Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss.
Following the ratings success of Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance in 2018, the “sequel” (2019’s Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal), and, of course, the much-discussed Oprah Winfrey interview, Lifetime has ordered a third season, which is now in production.
Escaping the Palace “reveals what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie,” according to the description. It will also cover Meghan’s increasing isolation and sorrow, as well as Harry’s dread of history repeating again, a reference to his late mother Princess Diana’s death, and Meghan’s dismay that “The Firm” was not protecting them against newspaper assaults. The fictitious film will also address the breakdown inside the royal family, which may have contributed to their decision to cut connections with the monarchy.
While nothing is known about the movie, it was revealed earlier this year that the network was working on its third film, which would concentrate on the couple’s imagined existence behind closed doors.
The filming of Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace started this week in Vancouver, with a release date set for autumn 2021. The pair has openly spoken out about their experiences in royal life since formally stepping down from palace responsibilities in January 2020, and have been focusing on business endeavors such as Markle’s book debut and a multi-year contract with Netflix.
“Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace will also reveal the private family feuds between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles, that led to the ultimate break from the royal ties ,” according to the press release. Keep in mind that this is a fictitious account of the events.
