Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting a baby girl soon, and they’ve even hinted at possible names!

According to People magazine, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, had a chat with a 7-year-old child in the U.K. town of Birkenhead in January 2019, and the little pupil, Megan Dudley, suggested a name to Markle.

“There, a little girl asked Meghan if she would call her child Amy, to which the Duchess said ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it'”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are generally expected to name their baby Diana after Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, or maybe after his late grandpa, Prince Philip, or grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Nonetheless, the pair has indicated interest in a number of alternative names over the years.

Meanwhile, Harry, 35, was reported to have liked the name “Lily” and allegedly asked a mother how she spelt her daughter’s name.

When the royal couple visited Australia in October 2018, they were again questioned about baby names.

During the royal couple’s October 2018 royal visit, they boarded one of Melbourne, Australia’s historic trams for a brief journey to South Melbourne Beach with student sustainability leaders. Charlie Wolf, 12, used the chance to question Meghan and Harry about the royal baby’s name.

Meghan replied, “We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone, we’re going to sit down and have a look at them.”

Furthermore, the name Philippa has emerged as a strong option for Meghan and Harry’s kid, according to the U.K. gambling site Ladbrokes. People reported at the time that the book cut the betting odds on the name to 3/1 last month.

Diana and Elizabeth are also popular alternatives, with the former honoring the Duke of Sussex’s mother and the latter honoring the Queen.

On Valentine’s Day, the Sussexes revealed they were expecting a second child, only days after declaring their decision to stand down from royal responsibilities and relocate to Los Angeles due to continuous court fights with the British press over privacy problems. Their candid interview with Oprah Winfrey in March provided additional insight on the topic, with Markle revealing her issues with mental health after joining the royal family and alleging discriminatory remarks regarding Archie’s skin tone before to his birth.

“To have a boy then a girl — what more can you ask for?” Harry asked. The prince added of his feelings about having a daughter. Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl … now we’ve got our family and we’ve got four of us.”

They announced their joyous news by posting a black-and-white photograph of the Duke cradling his wife’s head in his lap while reclining in their Californian garden.

Misan Harriman, a long-time acquaintance of the couple who has lately worked with Vogue, took the photo.
