Titanic was released 20 years ago.

The movie has earned over 11 Academy Awards and is one of the most well-known films of all time. At the box office, the picture directed by James Cameron grossed £2 billion. Actors Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio had never met before the film. The picture was more of an experiment for the two co-stars.

Kate reportedly encouraged an unsure Leo to take on the role, according to a Deadline interview.

When Kate discovered that she would have to appear fully naked in front of Leo in the now iconic naked painting scene, she took a rather dramatic decision. Kate quickly flashed him briefly while wearing a coat.

“After discovering that she had to be naked in front of Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet decided to break the ice, and when they met, she flashed it”, tells an anecdote from Titanic, published in IMDB.

Also, none other than James Cameron himself drew Rose (Kate Winslet) in the first place. That’s right, you read that correctly. Apart from his maverick filmmaking, Cameron demonstrated another element in Titanic. The director created not just Rose’s sketch, but also each and every sketch Jack (Leo) keeps in his leather book. Whoa!

Kate stated that it is tough for her to realize that the picture was released more than 20 years ago.

Following Titanic’s extended run of production, Leonardo and Kate became close friends, and the actors have said on multiple occasions that they have never been in a romantic relationship. Kate and Leo starred in the 2008 film Revolutionary Road, which showed them as a married couple. When Kate won the Golden Globe for Best Actress, the first person she kissed was Leonardo DiCaprio, and the second was her husband.

Not only has Winslet referred to her Titanic co-star as her “closest friend in the world,” but DiCaprio has also presented Winslet with a friendship ring in recent years to demonstrate his love for her.

Titanic is still the third highest-grossing film of all time, despite being released decades ago. Only Avatar and Avengers: Endgame have managed to outperform the picture in terms of global box office receipts. It is also Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s highest-grossing film, and James Cameron’s second-highest grosser.
