Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s candid appearance with Oprah Winfrey, celebrities and friends of Meghan have openly shown their support for her.

Meghan Markle was accused of bullying behavior by the palace just days before her much-anticipated tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Buckingham Palace announced earlier this week that it would launch an investigation into the allegations leveled against the Duchess of Sussex, but Markle called the reports “a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation”

Meghan’s experiences of “stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood and philanthropic work” as well as “how she is handling life under intense public pressure” will were discussed in the interview, which will broadcast tonight (8 March) on ITV at 9pm for UK viewers.

Some well-known figures have openly defended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the wake of their royal departure and criticism of their lives and choices after it took effect.

Markle’s Hollywood pals seem to agree, as Gabrielle Union, Chance the Rapper, Halle Berry, and others took to social media to support the 39-year-old former “Suits” actress.

Her onscreen husband Patrick J. Adams slammed the royal family as “bankrupt of decency.”

He discussed the “toxic” atmosphere in the UK when she joined the royal family, as well as recent allegations that she ‘bullied’ palace workers.

“It’s OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who’s newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of ‘bullying’ against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health,” Adams tweeted.

Meghan’s former Suits costar Abigail Spencer has come out in support of the royal once again, this time on Instagram. In the post, she praised Meghan’s “easy smile” “charm and genuine curiosity” and value as a friend.

“I’ve learned so much from Meg… She’s been there for me – and physically held me – in my darkest hours,” Spencer wrote.

“I am extremely private about my friendship with Meg. I’m not here to tell you her story. That’s for her. So why am I writing this now? I felt drawn – in all this melee, with all the untruths swirling around – to present something real. From a real friend. About a real friend.”

“Meg walks the walk. She’s a doer. In the face of darkness, she shows up in light and in love. When they go low, she goes high. Again and again. She works tirelessly – and often quietly – for the causes she believes in. She writes her own speeches. She and Harry are an incredible team. They are dedicating their lives to lifting up and amplifying those who do not have a voice for themselves.”

“Those British papers really cannot tolerate that Prince Harry loves a black woman. He was right to leave. I don’t even think it was a hard decision. They will never ever stop trying to tear Meghan apart. It’s absolutely grotesque,” tweeted Roxane Gay.

“And for his family to question that decision, and do all these passive aggressive things to try and get ahead of the Oprah interview,” Gay continued. “To punish him for protecting his wife and babies. Smh. It’s a shame. I know they are fine but I feel for them nonetheless.

Tennis star Serena Williams released an impassioned statement detailing the “sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of colour” Meghan’s close pal said on Twitter that Meghan inspires her to be “truly noble” every day.

She added, “Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced.” “I know first hand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of colour to minimise us, to break us down and demonise us.

“We must recognise our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism. The mental health consequences of systemic oppression and victimisation are devastating, isolating and all too often lethal.

“I want Meghan’s daughter, my daughter and your daughter to live in a society that is driven by respect. Keep in your memory the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things, there is no law.”

Abigail Spencer, Meghan’s long-time friend and former Suits co-star, was one of the many celebs who came to Meghan’s defense.

She used Instagram to provide a rare glimpse inside their relationship while defending Meghan’s character in the wake of the allegations.

Abigail, who was present at Meghan’s royal wedding in 2018, says she’s “not here to tell you [Meghan’s] story,” but she “felt drawn – in all this melee, with all the untruths swirling around – to present something real.”

“There are some people who are so bright and exude such deep purpose that they change the molecules in the air simply through their being,” she added.

“She was all of this from the moment I met her fourteen years ago. And remains so to this day. In the face of darkness, she shows up in light and in love. When they go low, she goes high. Again and again.”

Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s pal, expressed her support by sharing a lovely recollection of the two drinking wine over dinner. “I don’t know that anyone has ever had to deal with the pressure, the politics and the press like this woman. In the face of it all, I have never seen her waver from kindness, empathy and love.”

Chance the Rapper also chimed in on the royal couple’s move to California.

“Do y’all find yourselves getting mad as HELL every time they talk sideways about the Duchess Meghan?” he tweeted.

Chance the Rapper quoted a newspaper story with the headline “Harry’s making the same mistake as Diana”. The artist called out the media outlet, tweeting: “It takes a lot of nerve to make this threat… while insinuating… AS A MEMBER OF THE UK PRESS… that Princess Di was the one that made the mistake.”

Meghan’s close friend, actress Janina Gavankar, spoke out in support of the duchess after allegations that she harassed a member of her staff during her time at Kensington Palace.

“I have known Meghan for 17 years. Here’s what she is: kind, strong, open. Here’s what she’s not: ‘a bully’,” the True Blood actress tweeted ahead of the duchess’ interview with Oprah Winfrey airing on television.

“ANY of us who know her, feel the same thing from her broken silence: Relief.”

“We met 16 years ago, and we’ve just been apart since, so our friendship lives on FaceTime, no matter where we are,” she said last year.

“One of the things I love about both of them is they don’t tell anyone, they just go do good work in countries with nobody watching,” she said in the same interview regarding her friend’s connection with Harry.

“They fell in love with nothing around them – no frills, no bells and whistles.”

Meghan was “the Crown’s greatest opportunity for change, regeneration and reconciliation in a new era,” according to poet Amanda Gorman.

“They didn’t just maltreat her light – they missed out on it.”

Berry, who seldom tweets, said, “It’s still Protect Black Women,” in a rare remark.

“Keep Meghan Markle’s name out of your damn mouth. You are racist,” Meena Harris, niece of US Vice-President Kamala Harris, who rose to prominence on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2021, said on Twitter.

“Just added the Oprah interview to my calendar as an ALL-DAY EVENT,” she continued.

Daniel Martin, Meghan’s longtime makeup artist, has defended her persona.

“Because she isn’t self-centred, people can see the light in her,” he said in a post praising the actress.

“Because she does not boast of herself, she becomes a shining example,” he said, citing the philosopher Lao Tzu’s “Tao Te Ching.”

“Because she does not glorify herself, she becomes a person of merit. Because she wants nothing from the world, the world cannot overcome her,” he added.

“Royalty is not a shield from the devastation and despair of racism.” Bernice King, Martin Luther King’s youngest child, tweeted.

Lindsay Roth, Meghan Markle’s college closest friend, said on Instagram on Thursday, “Meg’s M.O. has always been kindness; goodwill runs in her bones…”

Gabrielle Union has also spoken out against Meghan’s alleged mistreatment of palace employees.

“You already know what time it is,” Gabrielle Union said beside a picture of Meghan on Instagram. “I hope we all continue to rally around women who dare to stand up for themselves and others. We see you, we support you, we got your back.”

Jameela Jamil also slammed rumors of Meghan Markle’s alleged bullying and questioned the drama’s timing.

“So lemme just get this straight. The palace were fine with all of Meghan’s ‘bullying’ for years and years until a few days before they fear she may out them publicly,” Jamil said on Twitter Thursday.

Helen Mirren has added her voice to the chorus of celebrities praising Harry and Meghan for their choice to leave the royal family in 2020.

“Of course, it is complicated … I think it is a loss in a way, but at the same time I think their instincts are absolutely correct,” the Hollywood legend tells Variety.

“Tabloid pearl-clutchers will get over their trauma at not having someone to attack all the time. They’ll find another victim… probably me,” she adds with a laugh.

One of Meghan’s long-time friends, TV director Silver Tree, who is best known for her work on the show Shameless, came out in support of the former royal.

“This is Meg. A real person- not a cover story. She is one of my very nearest and dearest. Like all her friends I love her madly,” Silver wrote with a never-before-seen photo of Meghan and Archie.

“She is the friend who insists on always hearing the details of your life, your day, your kids life, your kids’ day, before hers. Always before hers.

“The friend who stocks her house full of all your very favourite things when you visit and pretends she already had them-just because she wants the moment to be about you, not her. It’s always that way with her friends- us before her. When you move to a new city she creates a book of all the special things that city can give you – all the little secrets it offers over to you so you’ll feel less homesick.”

Nicki Minaj commended the Duke of Sussex for prioritizing his wife’s happiness in choosing to retire from royal life on her Apple Music program Queen Radio.

Meghan’s involvement in the decision was also endorsed by Minaj.

“If you’re being bullied in the media and get sick of this ish and all you wanted was to marry the man you loved, then by God yes, he should support you and get the f— up out of there.”
