Royals ‘ignoring’ Meghan Markle racism claims ‘hoping they’ll go away,’ biography says
According to a royal author, Buckingham Palace has been accused of “ignoring” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s racist charges in the hope that they will go away.
If you need a refresher/have recently awoken from a long cultural coma, during their interview with Oprah, Harry and Meghan revealed several reasons for their decision to leave the royal family, but one of the most shocking was a claim that a member of the royal family had expressed concerns about how dark their child’s skin might be while Meghan was pregnant with their son, Archie. Oprah subsequently confirmed that the relative in issue was neither Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip, notwithstanding Harry and Meghan’s refusal to reveal names.
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” Buckingham Palace said shortly after the interview aired.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

Now, in a new epilogue for Finding Freedom, royal writers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand reference a royal source (a staff member who was “horrified” by the accusations, according to Newsweek) to provide some insight into The Firm’s reaction to the racist claims—and it’s quite depressing, if true.
“There is a feeling that if it’s ignored it will go away but surely by now they should have learned that that never happens?” a royal source told the writers.
“The Queen’s ‘recollections may vary’ comment ‘did not go unnoticed’ by the couple, who a close source said were ‘not surprised’ that full ownership was not taken,” Scobie and Durand reported.
“Months later and little accountability has been taken,” a friend of Meghan’s is quoted as saying.
“How can you move forward without that?”
Finding Freedom will be released in a revised paperback version on August 31 with a new epilogue.
Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the latest allegations leveled against the Royal Family, the latest in a string of venomous retorts following Harry’s breakup with The Firm.
Meghan and Harry contemplated naming the perpetrator before deciding against it, according to the book.
Meghan also revealed during her Oprah interview that she had suicide thoughts as she battled with life at the Firm.
