Queen Camilla Appointed Colonel and Chief of the Royal Lancers: A Snub to Prince Harry?
In a surprising move, Queen Camilla hosted her first reception at Clarence House as the newly appointed Colonel and Chief of the Royal Lancers.
This announcement came just as Prince Harry arrived in London to give evidence in his lawsuit against MGM, where he made controversial claims about his stepmother.
Many royal fans and commentators view this as a fresh snub to the Duke of Sussex during his visit to the country.
The Queen herself attended the reception, accompanied by former and current members of the regiment.
This engagement marked her second of the day.

The Buckingham Palace made the official announcement on the Royal Family’s social media accounts, sharing photos of Camilla with the caption, “Her Majesty the Queen has been appointed Colonel and Chief of the Royal Lancers.”
The Royal Lancers, formed in 2015 through various amalgamations, have a rich history with the royal family.
The Royal Family’s Instagram account also shared a clip of Camilla celebrating Lieutenant Michael de Bourgh’s 100th birthday.
The caption read, “On the day the Queen was appointed Colonel and Chief of the Royal Lancers, Her Majesty presented Mr. de Bourgh with a regimental honor, the Buckingham Medal.”
Both Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother have previously served as colonels of the regiment.
Additionally, Camilla’s late father, Major Bruce Shand, served with the 12th Lancers during World War II.
For the reception, Camilla donned a stunning long royal blue dress with puffy sleeves and an open button collar neckline.
She completed her look with high heels.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry has already returned to Los Angeles after his brief trip to the UK to give evidence in his phone hacking case against Mirror Group newspapers – MGM.
Despite reportedly staying at the Royal Residence Frogmore Cottage, he did not have the opportunity to see his father, the King, or his brother, the Prince of Wales.
Harry’s flight from Los Angeles to London occurred overnight on Sunday, 4th June, following a day spent celebrating his daughter Princess Lilbeth’s second birthday.
Unfortunately, this meant he missed the opening day of his claim against MGM in court, resulting in a rebuke from Justice Fancourt.
The judge expressed surprise at the Duke of Sussex’s absence on the first day of proceedings, according to the BBC.
According to The Telegraph, Harry’s stay at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor is likely to be his last.
This decision follows an eviction notice from his father, King Charles, just weeks after the release of Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare.”
In January, it was reported that Charles intended to offer the cottage to Prince Andrew instead, prompting Harry and Meghan Markle to vacate the property.
Prince Andrew, however, has resisted the move, as he has resided at his home, Royal Lodge, with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson for over two decades.
Frogmore Cottage is considered a downgrade from Harry’s current residence, boasting seven bedrooms, a large drawing room, and a conservatory.
The strained relationship between the Sussexes and senior members of the royal family became more apparent on June 6th when none of the official Twitter accounts belonging to King Charles and Prince William wished Harry’s daughter, Lilibet, a happy second birthday.
This contrasts sharply with last year’s celebrations, where the official Twitter accounts for the royal family, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales all extended their well wishes for Lilibet’s first birthday.
Royal expert R.S.
Locke suggests that the radio silence from senior members of the royal family reflects the strained relationship between King Charles and Lilibet’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Locke states, “King Charles’s decision not to publicly acknowledge his granddaughter’s birthday, nor Prince Archie’s last month, is a reflection of their strained relationship and likely an indication of the social media practices going forward.”
In conclusion, Queen Camilla’s appointment as Colonel and Chief of the Royal Lancers has raised eyebrows, particularly during Prince Harry’s visit to London.
The reception held at Clarence House showcased Camilla’s new role, while the absence of public acknowledgment from senior members of the royal family towards Harry’s daughter’s birthday highlights the ongoing tension within the family.
As the dynamics continue to evolve, it remains to be seen how these relationships will develop in the future.
