Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the young members of the royal family, will be joining the procession leading up to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The decision for their attendance was made by their parents, Prince William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The couple believed it was important for their nine-year-old and seven-year-old children to be present at this significant event and have the opportunity to bid their final farewell to the late monarch.

Earlier reports had suggested that the presence of the second in line to the throne at the funeral was being discussed, with the idea that George’s appearance would provide reassurance to mourners across the country.

A source revealed to the Mail on Sunday that courtiers were keen for Prince George to be involved in some capacity, as a way to reassure the nation about the order of succession.

However, another palace insider stated that the matter was still under discussion and no decision had been made yet.

As the eldest son and daughter of Prince William and Kate, George and Charlotte will be among the youngest mourners at today’s state funeral.

They will also be the only great-grandchildren of the Queen in attendance.

Their participation in the funeral procession is expected to evoke memories of Princess Diana’s funeral, where young Prince William and Prince Harry walked behind their mother’s coffin.

The procession will be led by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, followed by Princess Anne and her husband Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence.

Prince Andrew and Prince Edward will walk ahead of Prince William and Princess Kate, accompanied by their two children.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with other members of the Royal Family, will follow suit.

The casket of Queen Elizabeth II will be taken to Westminster Abbey’s West Gage at 10:52 am before the Royals join the rest of the congregation for the commencement of the service at 11 am.

The last public appearance of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and their younger brother Prince Louis was on September 8 when they started their first day of school at Lambrook in Berkshire.

They were seen wearing their new school uniforms, walking hand in hand with their parents.

Later that day, Buckingham Palace announced the sad news of the Queen’s passing.

Since then, the children have remained out of the public eye.

While George, Charlotte, and Louis have been grieving privately, Prince William and Kate have made appearances outside their new home in Windsor to meet with mourners.

In contrast, other royal great-grandchildren, such as Mia and Lena Tindall (daughters of Zara and Mike Tindall) and Isla and Savannah Phillips (daughters of Peter Phillips), were present at Westminster Hall last week to pay their respects to the late monarch.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle continues to face criticism in the UK.

On Twitter, the situation worsened for her, with the hashtag “Go Home Meghan Markle” dominating the website on September 12.

This trend emerged after Markle accompanied Prince Harry, Prince William, and Princess Kate to greet mourners in London.

Had she not attended this event, she would likely have been accused of disregarding the feelings of the British public and disrespecting the Queen.

Yet, even by showing up and fulfilling her duties, she faced online praise for those who coldly ignored her.

Markle must have anticipated the challenging circumstances she would face upon her return to the UK.

However, she has handled the scrutiny with remarkable dignity.

It is important to remember that during their Oprah interview, Markle and Harry spoke positively about Queen Elizabeth II.

Furthermore, they named their daughter Lilibet, after the Queen’s childhood nickname.

Unfortunately, these gestures seem to have been forgotten, as Meghan Markle remains a divisive figure in the eyes of many Royal supporters in the UK.
