A Pennsylvania man was charged today with felony computer hacking in connection with the 2014 celeb nude picture leak, which included Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco, Kirsten Dunst, and others.

According to court records filed in Los Angeles, Ryan Collins of Lancaster, Pennsylvania was caught by federal investigators and has agreed to plead guilty to a felony computer hacking allegation.

Collins, according to the Intelligence agencies, broke into more than 100 people’s Apple and Google email accounts, the majority of whom were celebrities.

While authorities have linked Collins to unauthorized access to the victims’ information, investigators have found no evidence that Collins was involved in the actual breaches or that he shared or posted the material he obtained.

Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were among the celebrities targeted in a major cyber assault directed mostly at female celebrities between November 2012 and August 2014.

“Today, people store important private information in their online accounts and in their digital devices,” said United States Attorney Eileen M. Decker. “Lawless unauthorized access to such private information is a criminal offense. My office remains committed to protecting sensitive and personal information from the malicious actions of sophisticated hackers and cyber criminals.”

Collins’ case will be moved to Harrisburg in the Middle District of Pennsylvania for the entry of his guilty plea and sentencing, despite the fact that he was charged in Los Angeles. Collins faces a maximum term of five years in federal prison if he files a guilty plea, according to the statement.

Collins engaged in a phishing campaign from November 2012 to September 2014, according to the Justice Department, in which he collected the usernames and passwords of his victims. Collins would send emails that looked like they were from Apple or Google, requesting information. Collins accessed the victims’ accounts and collected personal information, including naked pictures and videos, when they responded.

Collins would utilize a software application to download the contents of the victims’ Apple iCloud backups in some cases. Collins allegedly got access to at least 50 iCloud accounts and 72 Gmail accounts.

Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco, and Kirsten Dunst are known to have been victims of The Fappening.

“By illegally accessing intimate details of his victims’ personal lives, Mr. Collins violated their privacy and left many to contend with lasting emotional distress, embarrassment and feelings of insecurity,” stated David Bowdich, the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office’s Assistant Director in Charge.

“We continue to see both celebrities and victims from all walks of life suffer the consequences of this crime and strongly encourage users of Internet-connected devices to strengthen passwords and to be skeptical when replying to emails asking for personal information.”

Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Academy Award for her performance in The Hunger Games, commented on the terrible impact of the security breach on her life last October.

“It was all pain and no gain,” she recalled. “But I don’t dwell on it unless someone brings it up. Have you seen me naked?”
