Kirsten Dunst certainly doesn’t need n introduction. The actress dominated the romantic comedy scene in the 2000s. From Wimbledon and the first Bring It On movie through the Spider-Man series and pretty much everything in between.

But the star now believes that she has never truly been recognized in the industry and questions why she is never put up for big awards.

Despite being nominated for more than 60 awards throughout the course of her career, the actress said, “I’ve never been nominated for anything. Maybe like twice for a Golden Globe when I was little and one for Fargo.”

“Maybe they just think I’m the girl from Bring It On,” she said on Sirius XM’s In-Depth With Larry Flick.

Additionally, Dunst said that “a lot of things I do people like later. Remember when Marie Antoinette [came out] — y’all panned it? And now you all love it. Remember Drop Dead Gorgeous? Panned. Now you all love it.”

She continued, “I just feel like, ‘What did I do?’ Maybe I don’t play the game enough.”

“But then I do, I mean, I do everything I’m supposed to. It’s not like I’m rude or like, not doing publicity or anything.”

Dunst added, “It’d be nice to be recognized by your peers.”

Dunst won her first Golden Globe nomination for the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire. She got a second nomination for the 2015 film Fargo, for which she was also nominated for an Emmy. The actress was also honored with the coveted Best Actress prize at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actress allegedly gained roughly $20 million from the Spider-Man movies, which is a sum that most people would consider to be extremely respectable.

In addition, she reportedly earned $5 million for playing Lizzie Bradbury in the tennis rom-com Wimbledon. A cool $8 million was also made by the actress for Elizabethtown. It’s common knowledge that A-list celebrity status is associated with high salaries.

Her IMDb listing states:” Nominated for 2 Golden Globes. Another 32 wins & 66 nominations.”

She presently plays Krystal, a blue-collar worker who connives her way through the ranks of a multibillion dollar pyramid scheme, in the Showtime dark comedy On Becoming a God in Central Florida.

Even though it didn’t get any Oscars or Golden Globes, Bring It On is still regarded by many viewers as a classic movie and even Roger Ebert called it “the Citizen Kane of cheerleader movies.” That alone qualifies Dunst as a treasured actress, even if she disagrees. As her character Torrance said in Bring It On, “This is not a democracy, it’s a cheerocracy. I’m sorry, but I’m overruling you.”

The Power of The Dog, a film starring Kirsten, is now in post-production and is scheduled for release some time in 2021. She will appear on screen with Jesse Plemons, an actor, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

When word spread that Kirsten would be returning to the MCU’s Spider-Man 3 as Mary Jane Watson, fans were ecstatic. IMDb states, “According to a new report, Tobey Maguire is currently in talks to return in Spider-Man 3. Meanwhile, it’s said that Kirsten Dunst is firmly signed on.”
