Maisie Williams reveals embarrassment over Game Of Thrones s-x scene

In response to the mixed fan responses to her highly publicized s=x scene in the most recent Game of Thrones episode, Maisie Williams said that she should be the one feeling uneasy since her whole family watched the moment.

Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, had her first s-xual encounter with the blacksmith Gendry just before the confrontation with the Night King at Winterfell (Joe Dempsie). The character Arya is eighteen. Williams has been playing her since she was 12 years old.

Many people were shocked by the encounter.

If you thought the sequence was difficult in general, Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark, has one crucial reminder: She has been far more uncomfortable during the whole process.

Williams made light of the fan reactions two days after the show aired.

“If u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my step dad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too ahahakillmeehehe (sic)” the actor tweeted.

In an interview with EW, Williams said she was allowed to control the amount of skin she showed in the scene—and she originally thought the whole thing was a prank by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It wasn’t.

“This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with. David and Dan were like, ‘It’s the end of the world, what else would you have her do?’ This may be is a moment where Arya accepts death tomorrow, which she never does — ‘Not Today,'” Williams said. “So, it was that moment where she says, ‘We’re probably going to die tomorrow, I want to know what this feels like before that happens.’ It’s interesting to see Arya be a bit more human, speak more normally about things people are scared of.”

Williams’ character is the third child of Eddard Stark, formerly the Lord of Winterfell. After narrowly escaping being murdered by House Lannister she trained as a Faceless Man assassin in Braavos.

The fans knew about the arc between the two characters – Gendry was Arya’s crush and he also found comfort in her friendship, especially since they have journeyed together before getting separated.

Even then, many felt, the timing of the development was amiss and there were mixed feelings aplenty.

Some said Arya was too young to have s=x.

“When you’ve been waiting for Gendry and Arya to get together for 4 seasons and it finally happens, but then they start getting naked…” a user tweeted.

“Ok, I didn’t like the Arya s=x scene in the newest episode of Game of Throne, and not only because it was awkward to see the person that was once a child for so long naked, but anyway the rest of the episode was a pretty solid 8.5/10, I’m kinda hopeful for the rest of this season,” another wrote.

Others wondered whether the s=x scene fit within her overall character arc.

“Arya has *never* shown even the slightest inkling of being interested in s=x; yes, she was into Gendry, but in a schoolgirl crush/friend kind of way. To go from that to, ‘Hey I might die tomorrow let’s bone’ feels… very off,” a tweeple said.

One wrote, “TBH it’s because we never saw her hit puberty and deal with that shit on the show… she’s not OKAY, about her body or control or intimacy, but the episode appeared to gloss the not-okayness of the s=x.”

Meanwhile, Sophie Turner, Williams’ TV sister and real-life best friend, teased the actor on Instagram.

“In honor of Easter, I guess Game of Thrones wanted the storyline to have a little Easter bunny hop-hop-hopping into that p—y. And that’s the tea,” Turner said, punctuating the line with a sip of wine.

Game Of Thrones continues on Sky Atlantic and Now TV.
