Jennifer Lawrence Addresses Affair with Chris Pratt

Jennifer Lawrence is used to the Hollywood gossip scene. She is often quick to boldly take a position and dispel any unfounded rumors about her personal life. There was one rumor that the A-list actress just couldn’t shake. Her alleged affair with Chris Pratt, her co-star in the movie Passengers, who at the time of production was wed to Anna Faris but divorced after.

During a media tour for Red Sparrow, Lawrence took some time to clean up in aisle five while talking to the staff at KISS FM in the UK in between doing rum shots with Stephen Colbert and hanging out with Marc Maron in his garage for his WTF show. J.Law was quick to mention Brad Pitt when asked what the “weirdest” rumor she’s ever heard about herself, even though, in her opinion, the dating rumor was more “flattering” than anything.

She then said, “I never had an affair with Chris Pratt on Passengers. That’s a good one,” she said, alluding to the persistent rumor. “They got a divorce two years later and everybody was like, “Jennifer Lawrence!” And I was like… in Montreal. Two years later.”

Passengers was filmed by Pratt and Lawrence between September 2015 and February 2016. In August 2017, Pratt and Faris made their breakup public.

When they were filming their Hollywood blockbuster, rumors of a relationship started to circulate. Fans swiftly blamed Jennifer for Chris and Anna’s breakup, but the charges were denied by both sides.

“Before they met in person, my publicist, out of the blue, pulled me aside. ‘Anna, listen there are going to be paparazzi all over them,’ she said. ‘There are going to be shots of them laughing together on their way to set. There are going to be stories circulating, and you have to brace yourself for this.’ Tabloids did create affair stories, and those articles were “totally hurtful,” to Faris—but not because Pratt and Lawrence did anything salacious together.

“Jennifer and I really are friendly, and she was apologetic even though she didn’t need to be, because she hadn’t done anything wrong.”

“She’s awesome, but of course it’s hurtful and also embarrassing when people are saying your husband is cheating on you—even if it’s patently untrue. You still feel, and look, like a fool. But that’s something I have had to learn to handle in stride.”

And Faris and Pratt remain close too, just not romantically anymore. In their separation statement, they said they “tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed…[but] we still love each other and will always cherish our time together.”

“We’ll always have each other and be incredible friends,” Faris told People in October. “There is still so much laughter in our lives together, and he is so proud of me, still. We watched each other grow, and he still cracks me up all the time. And I think I crack him up—unless he’s a really good actor and great at faking laughter.”

On the internet’s devastation over their breakup, Faris said, “It’s understandable that people seemed so invested in our happiness together. All I can say about that is, it’s all true, that we truly adore each other, and we love each other, I think it still comes through.”

During her radio chat, Jennifer – who has previously dated Nicholas Hoult and Chris Martin – also joked about being romantically linked to Brad Pitt. She said: “It was super flattering but at one point I was just like ‘dating Brad Pitt’. We were having like ‘secret rendezvous’. You know that was weird.”

In another candid interview with Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, Lawrence also touched on her romantic life and revealed she’s still in love with ex-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky, whom she dated after filming wrapped for mother!, the horror in which she starred. And she said there were sparks between them from the beginning.

“He flew in, pitched me, left,” she recalled. “The whole thing was probably an hour and a half, and then I was like, ‘He’s hot’.

Jennifer has had a busy few weeks, promoting her new film, Red Sparrow. Directed by The Hunger Games’ Francis Lawrence, the actress stars as Russian spy Dominika Egorova who falls in love with a CIA officer, played by Joel Edgerton.
