Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Kate, Princess of Wales, had to contend with some blustery conditions at this afternoon’s annual Order of the Garter event at Windsor Castle.

The strong winds caused several regal women to clutch their hats tightly to prevent them from flying away.

The royal couple was dressed in stunning gowns, but the windy circumstances forced them to fight with their hats.

Kate wore her polka-dot Alessandra Ridge dress, which she paired with a matching Philip Treacy black and white polka-dot fastener and white shoes with a black toe.

Sophie, on the other hand, chose a lovely, summery Amelia Wickstead dress from the label’s current line.

She completed her look with cream heels and carried a bright pink pashmina that she would probably use as a shawl if she got cold.

Sophie wore a beautiful pink fascinator hat with her floral outfit.

King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal procession before the Order of the Garter event, followed closely by other members of the royal family who are in the Order, such as Prince William, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne.

All knights were attired in regal velvet gowns, sparkly insignia, and plumed hats for the sacred event.

Kate and Sophie, who have not been appointed to the Order of the Garter, did not participate in the parade or don the ceremonial robes.

However, they were in good spirits and seen laughing and smiling while having in-depth conversations.

The Order of the Garter, founded by King Edward Ivey in 1348, is the oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry in Britain.

The Order has 24 spots for knights and ladies’ companions, and the Queen formally invests new appointments on Garter Day in the Garter Throne Room.

Appointees are chosen for their commitment to public service.

The Order also includes honorary royal members from the UK and other countries.

The King personally appoints members of the Order in his capacity as Sovereign of the Garter.

Despite the windy weather, the Order of the Garter event proceeded as planned, and the royal family members enjoyed the occasion.
