Sophie Wessex, the wife of Prince Edward, could potentially become the Duchess of Edinburgh if her husband takes on the title of Duke of Edinburgh.

This new title for Sophie is the same courtesy title that was held by Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 until her ascension to the throne in 1952.

The palace seems to be pushing Sophie into a more prominent role within the royal family.

According to Roya Nika, a royal correspondent and editor for the Sunday Times, the Countess of Wessex is gaining more visibility.

There were concerns that Sophie would be sidelined under King Charles’ plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.

However, Nika reassured that Sophie’s place is secure and that the Wessexes are now being brought to the forefront.

Nika explained that there has been a lot of discussion surrounding Sophie, and she is receiving more attention.

Sophie has been involved in important work for over a decade, particularly in areas such as s**ual violence prevention and conflict resolution, as well as the prevention of blindness.

With fewer members in a streamlined monarchy, Sophie is now being given a larger platform, and the palace is actively promoting her as a positive news story for the royal family.

In recent weeks, the Countess has embarked on a solo royal tour, visiting Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda.

Her trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo, which had been planned for several months prior to the Queen’s passing, marked the first visit by a member of the royal family to the country.

During her time in the Congo, Sophie addressed the issue of s**ual and gender-based violence in conflict zones, a cause that is close to her heart.

Additionally, she celebrated Malawi’s success in eliminating trachoma, an infectious disease that can lead to blindness.

Sophie revealed that the Queen, her dear mother-in-law, was delighted to hear about Malawi’s achievement before her passing.

This news has sparked speculation about Sophie’s potential for success in her new role and title.

Will she shine in her elevated position within the royal family?

Or should King Charles consider other options?
