Queen Welcomes New Prime Minister Liz Truss to Balmoral Castle Amid Health Concerns
In a historic meeting, Queen Elizabeth II welcomed the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, to her Scotland residence, Balmoral Castle.
However, a detail from the encounter has sparked worries about the health of the 96-year-old monarch among royal enthusiasts.
This was the first time Her Majesty held an audience in Aberdeenshire, and it marked her first public appearance since July 21, when she arrived for her summer vacation.
The Queen has been facing episodic mobility issues since last autumn, prompting the decision to have the outgoing and incoming Prime Ministers make the 1,000-mile round trip to see her.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement at 1 pm today, announcing that Her Majesty received Elizabeth Truss MP in audience and requested her to form a new administration.

Truss accepted the offer and kissed hands upon her appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.
Typically, the court circular records that the Prime Minister kissed hands on appointment, but in reality, it is usually a handshake.
This was the case during Truss’s meeting with the Queen in the drawing room of Balmoral.
The room is adorned with green sofas, a fabric chair featuring a leaf design, an open fireplace, and ancient paintings depicting horses.
During the meeting, the Queen wore a tartan skirt and a grey cardigan over a blue top after formally accepting Boris Johnson’s resignation.
However, what caught everyone’s attention was the apparent blue color on the Queen’s hand.
Social media users expressed concern, with some speculating that it was a bruise.
While older people are known to bruise more easily, the extent of the apparent damage raised alarm bells.
Despite the concerns about her health, the Queen appeared well and in good spirits.
She greeted Truss with a broad smile in the drawing room at Balmoral.
Although she held a cane in her hand, she did not seem heavily reliant on it.
Royal fans were delighted to see the Queen looking happy and well, expressing their joy on social media.
Elizabeth Truss, 47, is the third female Prime Minister in British history, following in the footsteps of Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.
Truss and her husband arrived at the Queen’s private Scottish estate in a chauffeur-driven car after being declared the victor of the Tory leadership contest.
She was greeted by the Queen’s private secretary and her echory Lieutenant Colonel Tom White, similar to Boris Johnson’s reception when he tendered his resignation.
Interestingly, Truss had previously called for the abolition of the monarchy.
As a 19-year-old student addressing the 1994 Liberal Democrat conference, she stated that people are not born to rule and claimed to have canvassed public opinion, which overwhelmingly supported abolishing the monarchy.
However, Truss has since distanced herself from those views, acknowledging the importance of the constitutional monarchy in supporting a free democracy.
The Queen and Truss have crossed paths on several occasions, including a meeting at Windsor Castle last October.
As Foreign Secretary, Truss shook hands with the Queen during a Global Investment Summit reception.
They have also encountered each other during Privy Council meetings, with Truss receiving the seals of office for her Cabinet roles.
Despite their differing past views, the Queen and Truss have maintained a cordial relationship.
As the Queen continues her reign, the appointment of Liz Truss as Prime Minister marks another significant chapter in British history.
While concerns about the Queen’s health persist, her resilience and dedication to her duties remain unwavering.
The nation eagerly watches as Truss assumes her new role and navigates the challenges that lie ahead.
