Sarah Ferguson, affectionately known as Fergie, delighted her Instagram followers by posting the first pictures of Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved corgis, Mick and Sandy, on her 62nd birthday.

After the monarch’s recent passing, Sarah and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, adopted the two dogs and now care for them at their Royal Lodge home near Windsor Castle.

On a sunny Saturday morning, the Duchess of York shared a series of photos from one of their recent walks around the Royal Estate.

In the first image, Sarah is seen lying on the grass, with Mick and Sandy standing close to her.

She captioned the post, “The presents that keep on giving.”

The Duchess then treated her fans to five more adorable pictures of the dogs being showered with love and affection.

Sarah’s followers were thrilled to see the corgis receiving such excellent care, and they also took the opportunity to wish her a happy birthday.

One supporter commented, “How heartbreakingly beautiful!

We can trust that Sarah will take care of them gently and safely.”

Another follower expressed relief, saying, “I’m relieved that they’re both with you now, Sarah.”

Many fans requested regular updates on Mick and Sandy’s well-being, showing their genuine concern for the furry companions.

Speaking to The Telegraph earlier this month, Sarah mentioned that caring for the corgis had been a great honor.

She acknowledged that the two new additions to her family were national treasures and well-trained.

It seems that the dogs have adjusted well to their new home, even coexisting harmoniously with the five Norfolk Terriers that Sarah and Andrew already owned.

When asked about the carpet moving at her feet, she playfully replied, “They all balance out.

The carpet moves as I move, but I’ve gotten used to it now.”

According to reports, Prince Andrew and his daughters had gifted Mick and Sandy to the Queen over the past couple of years, promising to look after them if she were to pass away.

Mick was given to the Queen to keep her company when Prince Philip was in the hospital, while Sandy was gifted to her on what would have been Prince Philip’s 100th birthday.

Dr. Roger Monkford, an expert in animal behavior who has assisted the Queen with her corgis for many years, highlighted the psychological importance of these animals to Her Majesty.

When the Queen sadly passed away on September 8th at Balmoral, her beloved corgis were reportedly by her side during her final moments.

Their presence touched the hearts of many at her funeral on September 19th, as Mick and Sandy waited in the quadrangle with two attendants, patiently observing the procession of the late monarch’s coffin from London to its final resting place in Windsor.

Following the Queen’s passing, a dog expert expressed concern that the corgis may be experiencing symptoms of depression.

John Smith, founder of pet personalization product website Yappy, explained that while dogs do not fully comprehend death, they can feel the absence and loss of their owner.

This emotional distress can manifest in various ways, including whining, pacing, howling, loss of appetite, fidgeting, disrupted sleep patterns, anxiety, and lethargy.

Throughout her life, the Queen owned more than 30 corgis, all descendants of her first corgi, Susan, which she received as an 18th birthday gift from her father, George VI.

These royal canines enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, with their own rooms furnished with elevated wicker baskets.

Each evening, a chef would prepare their meals consisting of beef, chicken, rabbit, liver, cabbage, and rice.

Occasionally, the Queen herself would take charge of their culinary needs.

In contrast, it was known that her late husband, Prince Philip, had a distaste for the dogs’ yapping.

Sarah Ferguson’s heartfelt gesture of sharing Mick and Sandy’s journey with the world has brought joy and comfort to many who admired Queen Elizabeth II and her beloved corgis.

As these loyal companions continue to adapt to their new life at the Royal Lodge, Sarah’s dedication to their well-being serves as a testament to the enduring bond between humans and their furry friends.
