Princess Anne supports Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s decision to Quit Royal Family – “It was the right thing to do”
The royal departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has sparked debate among royal fans and, according to unnamed royal “sources,” also among members of the royal family. However, Harry’s aunt, Princess Anne, has come out very strongly in favor of the decision.
Princess Anne (a.k.a. Anne, Princess Royal) is Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s only daughter and the second child of the pair. She is unmistakably Team Sussex. The royal made a strong remark about her nephew’s big change in a recent interview with Vanity Fair (which happened to take place only a month after Harry and Meghan revealed their intention to step back from royal duties).
“I believe it was actually better for them, because I believe most people will argue that getting titles has drawbacks,” she told royal expert Katie Nicholl. “So I believe it was the best course of action.”
Anne’s attitude would, of course, come as no surprise to someone who knows anything about the royal family. About the fact that she is still a working princess, she and her first husband, Mark Phillips, chose to forego HRH titles for their twins, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. When their son, Archie Harrison, was born in 2019, Harry and Meghan took the same decision, opting not to have the Queen bestow a royal title on him.
It’s comforting to note that, among the numerous rumours of royal feuds surrounding Harry and Meghan’s departure, they have at least one person by their side.

Harry and Meghan’s popularity in America FALLS after Oprah Interview
According to polls, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are less popular in the United States than they were before their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
According to polling, both the royals have shed some points in their favor and have gained more critics.
Harry is much more popular in the United States than his wife Meghan Markle, considering the fact that she was born and raised there.
After the royal couple’s dramatic interview with Winfrey, YouGov US and The Economist surveyed over 1,400 Americans to see how it influenced their fame.
Prince Harry received a net score of 28 from those surveyed, with 54 percent having a very or somewhat favorable opinion of him and 26 percent having a very or somewhat unfavorable opinion of him.
In comparison, 48 percent of respondents had a very or somewhat positive view of his wife Meghan, while 33 percent had a very or somewhat negative opinion of her, earning her a net score of 15.
However, relative to a few weeks before the interview, YouGov US polls shows Harry with a net rating of 39 and Meghan with a rating of 28, this is down by more than ten points.
The poll also questioned if people approved Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down from their positions as senior royals, with 61 percent reporting they did.
Just 11% of those polled said they opposed them taking a step back.
However, 31% of respondents said they had no sympathy for their decision to stand down, compared to 17% who said they had a lot of sympathy for it.
The survey was conducted following the couple’s interview with Winfrey and is one of the first in-depth analyses of the special’s effect in the United States, where Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, are settling. Just 13% of those polled said they sat through the whole interview.
The respondents were also asked if they felt the United States should have a monarchy, with the majority suggesting it would be a terrible idea.
When questioned if it would be good or bad for the US to have a monarchy, more than two-thirds (68%) said it would be a bad thing. But, when asked if it was neither good nor bad for the UK to have a monarchy, 45 percent said it was neither good nor bad.
The royals were seen as positive role models by 18 percent of those polled, compared to 15 percent who felt they were poor role models. However, 49% of respondents said they were neither positive nor poor.
The backlash from Harry and Meghan’s interview with Winfrey is still being felt in the United Kingdom and around the world, amid the Royal Family’s attempts to restore regular operations.
After the interview, Princes Charles and William have been out on appointments with their wives, with William briefly defending his family at an east London school.
The questions discussed in the interview will be dealt with personally, according to a palace statement on behalf of the Queen.
