Lady Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Montbatten-Windsor, the daughter of Prince Edward and his wife Countess Sophie of Wessex, has inherited her grandfather’s love for equestrian sports.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had a special connection with his granddaughter, who he affectionately called “Lady Louise.”

Sources close to the royal family recall that the Duke immediately felt a bond with the young girl.

As a child, Lady Louise loved horses and enjoyed listening to her grandfather’s stories.

When she grew up, she became interested in combined driving, an equestrian sport involving carriage driving.

The Duke of Edinburgh had been involved in this sport since the 70s and was an experienced racer, representing the country at three European Championships and six World Championships.

He was also responsible for organizing all equestrian events at the five Olympic Games.

The Duke is credited with popularizing combined driving in the UK.

After his retirement, Prince Philip happily followed his granddaughter’s successes and supported her in competitions.

Lady Louise raced near Norfolk and also represented Great Britain at the World and European Championships.

After the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, she received a special inheritance.

She became the new owner of Philip’s two favorites, the Black Ponies Balmoral Nevis and Not Lost Storm, as well as his personal carriage.

At her grandfather’s funeral, Lady Louise paid tribute to him in a special way.

She wore a brooch featuring a horse’s head, hooves, and a whip, which together form a carriage and refer to combined driving.

She wore the same accessory at the memorial service dedicated to the first anniversary of Philip’s death.

Prince Philip could not be called a sentimental person.

He was harsh and pragmatic, but also devoted and loving.

His grandson William called his grandfather a true legend.

And this perfectly shows how the young members of the royal family treated Prince Philip.

Philip himself also adored his grandchildren, but he had a favorite, Lady Louise.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s love for equestrian sports was well known.

He was passionate about horses and was a skilled rider.

His involvement in combined driving was also significant, and he played a key role in promoting the sport in the UK.
