Walking behind Prince Philip’s coffin, according to a royal analyst, will cause ‘difficult memories’ for Prince William and Harry of ‘losing their mother.’

The Duke of Cambridge, 38, and the Duke of Sussex, 36, will join their father Prince Charles in a procession behind their grandfather’s coffin at his funeral in Windsor on Saturday.

Penny Junor, a royal specialist, informed Daily Mail that the funeral will carry back ‘difficult memories’ for William, Harry, and Charles of Princess Diana’s funeral.

Prince Philip’s loyal and compassionate qualities were captured when he walked alongside young Prince William and Prince Harry in the funeral procession for Princess Diana.

Though it was a solemn day, it revealed a side of Philip that few had seen before.

It has now been confirmed why Prince Philip walked with his grandsons.

During the arrangements for Diana’s funeral in 1997, the Duke of Edinburgh was very worried about his young grandsons’ mental well-being.

The family was discussing Diana’s funeral arrangements when unexpectedly Prince Philip spoke, according to a former government affairs chief who spoke to the UK’s Evening Standard.

“We were all talking about how William and Harry should be involved and suddenly came Prince Philip’s voice. We hadn’t heard from him before, but he was really anguished .

He cried, “It’s about the boys,’ he cried. ‘They’ve lost their mother .

Philip went a step more the night before the service, turning to his grandsons and suggesting, “I’ll walk if you walk.”

Princess Anne spoke of how her father supported William and Harry during their sorrow. “That was him as a grandfather … ‘If that’s what you want to do and if you want me to be there, I will be there.’.

Prince Philip’s Funeral

The duke’s burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 17th, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. However, owing to coronavirus limitations, only 30 people will be allowed to participate.

According to sources, the Duke of Edinburgh preferred a low-key service, and it was reported this weekend that Philip would be granted a ceremonial royal funeral, similar to that of the Queen Mother in 2002.

With certain eco-friendly touches, the ceremony will honor Philip’s lifelong involvement in the climate.

The Land Rover that will carry the Duke’s coffin across Windsor Castle grounds to the chapel, which Prince Philip helped design in 2005, is said to be a hybrid electric vehicle.

The adapted Defender 130 Gun Bus was commissioned for the express purpose of transporting a coffin.

Another eco conscious gesture being considered by the palace is a woolen casket.

Wool coffins are constructed entirely of biodegradable fabrics and are reinforced with sturdy recycled cardboard.
