Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Consider Dropping Mountbatten-Windsor for Spencer
In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering a rebrand that includes a change in their last name.
The Daily Express has revealed that the couple may drop the name Mountbatten-Windsor in favor of Spencer, which was Princess Diana’s maiden name.
If this is true, it would be another blow to Harry’s late grandfather, Prince Philip, who fought hard to secure the Mountbatten-Windsor name for his non-throne-bound descendants.
Queen Elizabeth is also said to have supported this change out of love for her husband.
It is intriguing that Harry and Meghan are contemplating a surname change.

Meghan has faced criticism and has seemingly distanced herself from her own brand, leading her to seek a complete reinvention and an attempt to hide her past.
Legally, there is nothing preventing them from making this change if they wish to do so.
Meghan may believe that adopting the Spencer name will grant her ownership of the Spencer tiara.
However, Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother, has cryptically commented on Instagram, suggesting that Harry and Meghan are merely dreaming and will never be accepted into the Spencer genealogy.
Perhaps it is time for them to let Diana’s memory rest in peace.
Considering the trouble they have caused with both of their families, it seems audacious for Harry and Meghan to even consider asking for the Spencer name.
Earl Spencer, in his wisdom, refused to allow Meghan to tarnish their honorable family name.
The association of merchandise with Meghan, particularly in relation to Diana, is unsettling and must be painful for Prince William.
It is extremely bizarre and sickening that they continue to push this supposed likeness between Meghan and Diana.
Meghan’s obsession with Harry’s late mother will never make her like Diana.
While Diana was not perfect, she possessed more class, elegance, beauty, and compassion than Meghan.
Harry’s late mother, Doria, would never have treated the beloved late Queen and Prince Philip the way Harry and Meghan have.
Changing their name will not alter their personalities or result in a flood of new contracts.
Harry and Meghan have already caused significant damage, and being a Spencer will not change that.
They have become almost a laughing stock and are subjects of derision.
It is unlikely that anyone will ever like, respect, or accept them again.
In my opinion, the two women could not be more different.
If Diana were still alive today, it is certain that Meghan would never have gained a foothold in the royal family, or should I say, clawed her way in.
In their attempt to reshape their image, Harry and Meghan have discussed changing their name, not only amongst themselves but also with others.
This is not a spur-of-the-moment decision.
They are actively trying to rebrand themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer, with Harry even considering taking his mother’s name.
It is all part of their desire to break away.
Additionally, they would relinquish their Sussex titles, effectively becoming the new incarnation of Diana, according to experts.
Could this potential change to Spencer be an indication that their titles will be stripped?
It seems plausible.
Without their royal titles, they would be ordinary Harry and Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor.
However, if they adopt the Spencer name, they may be signaling that something is about to happen regarding the removal of their titles.
