Following their explosive Oprah Winfrey show, Meghan’s friend Gayle King has stated that the Sussexes intend to rebuild a relationship of togetherness with the royal family.

On Thursday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the 66-year-old said of the Royal Family drama, “I think that interview opened up conversations that people weren’t prepared to have or didn’t want to have.”

‘But I think, ultimately, it’s about a family that wants to be united and be together and I’m hoping that will be the case.’

‘Sometimes conversations are very difficult,’ she later said. ‘There’s nothing healthy when you don’t talk, so let’s all wish that for all involved in that particular story .’

The TV host has spoken out about the fallout from her friend’s explosive interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, insisting that she believes it was just about mending fences with Harry’s Royal relatives.

Meghan said during the shocking Oprah Winfrey interview that an unidentified member of the royal family raised “concerns” regarding the color of baby Archie’s skin before he was born, and that she believes his heritage might have played a role in his lack of a royal title.

Oprah later reported that the Queen and Prince Philip did not make the comments regarding Archie’s color.

King was invited to Meghan’s baby shower in New York in 2019, and Oprah was a well-known celebrity guest at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding.

The pair discussed the stresses of living in the Royal Family during their interview with Oprah last month, before taking a break and moving to Canada, then California.

In the interview, the former actress said she was barred from finding treatment for her mental health problems, whereas Harry confessed his relationship with his father, Prince Charles, was tense and that he had stopped answering his son’s phone calls for a while.

Meghan said that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, made her cry.

“Do you think it’s because of his race?” Oprah questioned Meghan after a discussion about Archie not being made a prince. “I know that’s a loaded question .”

“In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, we had the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title and, also, concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” Meghan told Oprah.
