Prince Charles is yet to forgive his son Prince Harry for his remarks regarding the British royal family in his tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, and it’s “unlikely” that they will make amends anytime soon.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, returned to the United Kingdom for just over a week on April 17 to attend his grandfather, Prince Philip’s, funeral. A royal source informed Us Weekly that Prince Harry and his father were unable to settle their differences.

“Unfortunately, Harry and Charles didn’t resolve their differences when Harry returned to the UK.”

“They barely communicated.

“There definitely continues to be a huge wedge between the two.”

At the funeral, Harry was seen talking with his older brother, Prince William, but not with his dad. According to the source, none of them took any action to settle their disagreements.

“Charles is still fuming about Harry throwing shade at him and the royal family in the big interview and won’t let it drop.

“But to be honest, Harry didn’t go running back to Charles begging for forgiveness either.

“He still hasn’t forgiven his father for his lack of effort and support after he and Meghan decided to move.”

Harry admitted in his tell-all interview that he felt “let down” by his dad while he was discussing his decision to step down as a working royal. The Duke of Sussex “still hasn’t forgiven his father for his lack of effort and support after he and Meghan decided to move.”

“The reason Harry went back to the U.K. was to see the queen and to pay his respects to Prince Philip. That’s about as far as it goes ,” the source said, noting that there aren’t much prospects for peace in the immediate future.

Prince Harry and Prince Charles were momentarily reunited at the funeral, but Harry “didn’t have a chance” to sit down with his father alone during his nine-day stay, according to The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers.

Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from their duties as senior royals last year, Harry’s relationship with his father has been tense.

During the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, Harry said his father had “stopped taking my calls” in the run-up to Megxit, causing the relationship to become particularly tense.

“I will always love him,” Harry said, “but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship .”

Experts also cautioned that there is no “quick fix” for the issue.

Meanwhile, the heir apparent has begun laying the groundwork for a modern, slimmer monarchy, in which his younger son will play no role. “(Charles) is freezing Harry out,” the source revealed. “He’s actually already out. After the damage Harry has caused the family, he firmly believes that his son doesn’t deserve the privilege of being a royal .”

While it has not been verified, Prince Harry is set to return to the UK this summer for the unveiling of a statue devoted to his late mother, Princess Diana.
