Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting a baby girl soon, and they’ve already hinted at possible names!

According to People magazine, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, had a chat with a 7-year-old child in the U.K. town of Birkenhead in January 2019, and the little girl, Megan Dudley, suggested a name to Markle.

“I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl, and she said, ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it,'” Dudley told media.

Harry also seemed to like the name Lily. During the trip, he is said to have asked a parent of a girl called Lily how to spell her name.

During the royal couple’s October 2018 royal visit, they boarded one of Melbourne, Australia’s historic trams for a brief journey to South Melbourne Beach with student sustainability leaders. Charlie Wolf, 12, used the chance to question Meghan and Harry about the royal baby’s name.

Meghan responded, “We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone, we’re going to sit down and have a look at them.”

Another name emerged in Melbourne that might make their shortlist. The couple met a fan with a baby called Harriet, which is also the female counterpart of the prince’s own name, and she subsequently told the Sunday Express that Harry commented, “That’s a great name.”

Many people have suggested that the royal couple’s name choice may be a homage to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, since Diana and Elizabeth, named after Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, are towards the top of the leaderboard with 5/1 and 10/1 odds, respectively.

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton honored Diana by naming their now 6-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Furthermore, the name Philippa has emerged as a strong option for Meghan and Harry’s kid, according to the U.K. gambling site Ladbrokes. People reported at the time that the book cut the betting odds on the name to 3/1 last month.

“The support for baby Philippa is showing no signs of slowing down, and we’ve been forced to trim the odds again that it’s the name for Harry and Meghan’s daughter,” said Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes.

They would not be alone if they named their second kid after the Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, Harry’s cousins, also gave their newborn sons the middle name Philip as a tribute to their grandpa shortly before his death.

Allegra and Isabella are other popular names among bookmakers for Markle and Harry’s child, according to the UK’s Hello magazine.

Archie was born at 5:26 a.m. on May 6, 2019 to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The announcement was revealed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their old joint Instagram account, Sussex Royal.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.,” the couple revealed.
