King Charles Excludes Meghan and Harry from Royal Birthday Party: What Does the Future Hold for the Sussexes?

The British royal family is known for their deep-rooted love for tradition and heritage.

From the late Queen’s annual Christmas decorations that stay up until February to her summer holidays in Scotland, rain or shine, they hold steadfast to their customs.

Another significant tradition on the Buckingham Palace calendar is the Sovereign’s Coloured Trooping Parade, a commemoration of the 260th anniversary of the event.

Thousands of soldiers, horses, and musicians take part in this impressive display of precision, although some participants may suffer from the intense heat.

During the holidays, a rehearsal called the Colonel’s Review was held, overseen by Prince William.

As expected, some hard-working soldiers fainted in the scorching 30-degree heat.

James Call, an 18-year-old soldier in the Welsh Guards, described the experience as standing in a sauna while holding a 200kg dumbbell in his left hand.

The actual event is set to take place next Saturday, and it is highly likely that some regiments will struggle with the conditions.

However, this year’s Trooping the Colour will mark a significant departure from tradition and a somber milestone.

King Charles has decided not to invite his son, Prince Harry, and daughter-in-law, Meghan, to the Royal birthday party.

Richard Eden, writing for the Daily Mail, revealed that the strained relations between the Prince and the Royal family led to this exclusion.

It is a stark contrast to the past 35 years, where Harry stood on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour, enjoying the fly-past and the cheers of the public.

In 2019, Harry and Meghan participated in Trooping the Colour, making their best effort to appear happy.

However, the following year, due to the pandemic, the event was scaled down to a small gathering at Windsor Castle.

In 2022, Trooping the Colour returned in full swing, but Harry and Meghan were not allowed on the palace balcony.

Despite being considered high-value members of the Royal family, their absence from this year’s event suggests a deepening rift.

The strained relationship between Harry and his family became evident when he appeared in the London High Court as part of his lawsuit against MGN for alleged hacking and unlawful information gathering.

This marked a significant moment as he became the first senior member of the royal family to testify in court since 1991.

While the palace has not officially commented on the situation, it is clear that they are unhappy about it.

It is ironic that an unelected royal like Harry would target the elected government of the country, especially considering that he has spent minimal time in the UK over the past three and a half years.

Even if he chooses not to engage in political matters, his relationship with his family remains icy.

Eden reported that Harry refuses to speak to his father and brother, and there are no reports of him interacting with them, despite living in close proximity.

As Trooping the Colour approaches, the absence of Harry and Meghan, as well as their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lily, aged four and two respectively, will be noticeable.

Their decision to step back from their royal duties has created a rift within the family, and it seems unlikely to be resolved anytime soon.

The tradition of seeing Her Majesty’s grandchildren together on the palace balcony may become a thing of the past, leaving a void in the public appearances of the younger generation of royals.

The exclusion of Meghan and Harry from the Royal birthday party and their absence from Trooping the Colour highlights the current state of their relationship with the Royal family.

As they continue to forge their own path, it remains uncertain whether they will ever regain their place in the royal good books.

The future holds many uncertainties, and the second cousin separation that seems to be emerging is a saddening addition to the traditions of the British royal family.
