Kate Middleton, 41, and Prince William, 40, have recently made a surprising move by relocating their family to Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate instead of the grandeur of Windsor Castle.

Despite being nearby, the royal couple has shown no desire to reside in the historic castle, according to a royal analyst.

Adelaide Cottage, situated close to the Lambrook School where their children Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, attend, has become the preferred abode for the Wales family.

The late Queen Elizabeth Ewe and Prince Philip spent their final years at Windsor Castle, but Kate and William have chosen a different path.

Royal correspondent Camilla Tomminy recently appeared on This Morning with hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield to shed light on the matter.

She confirmed that the couple favors Adelaide Cottage over the more opulent Windsor Castle, specifically in terms of royal lodging.

Last year, during Addiction Awareness Week, Kate Middleton even filmed a video in the living room of Adelaide Cottage.

To delve deeper into the interior design of the cottage, Express.co.uk reached out to Deepa Medasagar, an interior designer and decorator from Area Decor LLC in the UAE.

Medasagar described the interiors of Adelaide Cottage as traditional and regal.

The couple’s sofa, adorned with crimson accents and floral cushions, adds warmth and character to the room.

It provides an official yet cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal setting for interviews and broadcasts.

Furthermore, Medasagar shared some insights into the history of Adelaide Cottage.

Originally known as the Adelaide Lodge, the cottage is located in Windsor Great Park and has a rich past.

In the seventeenth century, it served as a keeper’s home until William Ivey transformed it into a vacation residence in the nineteenth century for his wife, Princess Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.

The choice of Adelaide Cottage reflects Kate and William’s rumored desire to give their children a typical upbringing.

The cottage offers a sense of seclusion that is often associated with suburban living.

The estate still retains its original porch, while the well-maintained gardens have maintained their beauty for nearly two centuries.

To ensure privacy, the outside of the cottage features a gravel driveway, a red-brick outbuilding, and a gatehouse, all designed to blend in seamlessly with the surroundings.

These additions serve as discreet security measures, aligning with the couple’s desire for normalcy and solitude.

Inside, the four-bedroom house boasts traditional furnishings, including a maritime-themed main bedroom inspired by a nineteenth-century royal boat.

The decor exudes an air of elegance with a neutral color palette that incorporates royal blue, deep crimson, and subtle gold accents.

This creates a calming ambiance, perfect for a household with young children.

Adelaide Cottage may be smaller compared to the family’s other residences, but it symbolizes their intention to raise their children in a normal manner while still honoring their royal heritage.

The proximity of Bagshot Park, the residence of Sophie, Countess of Wessex, who is a close friend of Kate, may also contribute to the couple’s fondness for the area.
