James Corden admits to acting “like a brat” when he first became famous.

The 41-year-old’s work as host of The Late Late Show, which is known for its Carpool Karaoke segment, has made him an international star.

James’ career took off after the popularity of Gavin and Stacey, which he both wrote and acted in.

The successful sitcom’s co-creator has claimed that the early flush of fame was “intoxicating” and that he grew arrogant and arrogant as a consequence.

‘It’s so intoxicating, that first flush of fame. And I think it’s even more intoxicating if you’re not bred for it.’

“I started to behave like a brat that I just don’t think I am,” he told The New Yorker. “It’s so intoxicating, that first flush of fame. And I think it’s even more intoxicating if you’re not bred for it.”

Margaret, his mother, says that she tried and failed several times to bring him back down to earth.

She explains, ‘You can try and say, “Look, James, you’re making a prat of yourself,” but you can only do so much.’

Margaret recalls that James’ sisters used to tell him he was a ‘d***head.’

The tipping point occurred at the 2008 BAFTAs, when he boldly said that instead of two TV Baftas, he should have received three.

It prompted his coworkers to challenge the emerging star about his behavior, particularly when his drinking got excessive.

Actor Rob Brydon was obliged to intervene, telling his pal that he needed to change his ways.

“Look, this is a bit awkward to say, but I’m just hearing these things about you, and you’ve got to know that the way you behave has an effect on people,” Rob, who played Uncle Bryn in Gavin & Stacey, told the star.

Corden described his previous behavior as “spoilt and brattish” in 2012, and he apologized for his “ungracious” and “ungrateful” victory speech at the 2008 Baftas in his 2011 book.

After accepting a fan-voted award for Gavin & Stacey, Corden used his acceptance speech to chastise the event for failing to nominate the show in the official Best Comedy category. He wondered, “How can what is apparently the best comedy performance and the television programme of the year not even be nominated as a comedy?” Later, he admitted that he “belittled himself in the process.”

Corden’s Gavin & Stacey co-star Rob Brydon told The Independent last year that during the height of the production, Corden had grown “bratty and irritable.” “He’s suddenly enjoying the fruits of his success, and he just lost his way for a bit,” Brydon said.

James started seeing a therapist after realizing his behavior was out of control, telling him, “I used to be a better person than this.”

He says: “The absolute biggest thing I had to learn to do […] was just stay in and be comfortable on my own.”

Due to the popularity of both The Late Late Show and the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, Corden’s reputation has subsequently restored in the eyes of many.

He has been presenting “The Late Late Show with James Corden” since 2015 and recently renewed his contract for another two years, although he has no plans to continue on the show indefinitely.

“The jury’s out for me on how healthy it is to do these shows for that long,” he said. “I’m not sure it’s healthy to have a standing ovation every day.”
