In a shocking revelation, Ahmed Scobie, the co-author of the bestselling biography “Finding Freedom” about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, has claimed that Prince William was so infuriated by the book’s disclosures that he sought to ban Scobie from his royal engagements.

Scobie, who is set to release his upcoming book “Final Stage,” delved into the inner workings of the royal family and the government’s struggle for survival, promising to expose the chaos, dysfunction, mistrust, and oppressive practices within the House of Windsor.

His new book is scheduled for publication in November and will document the changes that have occurred within the royal family since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

In an article for the I Paper in England, Scobie highlighted the shift in royal journalism, with the dissemination of press releases and carefully curated updates becoming the preferred reporting style for many royal correspondents.

While “Finding Freedom” was published in 2020 as an authentic account of Harry and Meghan’s experiences within the royal institution and their decision to step away from it, Scobie revealed that one of the book’s prominent figures, Prince William, expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the revelations.

Trending:

According to sources, Prince William’s Kensington Royal Residence team allegedly provided negative information to sympathetic journalists about his brother, in an attempt to discredit Scobie’s work and have him banned from royal engagements.

One of the book’s revelations was that William had advised Harry not to rush his relationship with Meghan, telling him to take his time to get to know her.

Scobie’s relationship with Meghan also came under scrutiny during her legal battle with the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and related papers in 2021.

The publisher argued that Meghan had known about the publication of a confidential letter she had written to her father in 2018 because she had shared the wording with her then-communications secretary, Jason Knopf.

As part of the legal proceedings, Knopf provided a cache of email exchanges and text messages between himself and Meghan, in which it was revealed that she was aware of Scobie and co-author Carolyn Duran’s work on “Finding Freedom.”

Meghan even provided notes on her early years for Knopf to brief the authors.

This revelation contradicted Meghan’s previous claim that she had not contributed to the book.

In court filings, Meghan apologized for failing to remember the email exchange with Knopf and clarified that she did not intend to mislead the court.

Despite Knopf’s evidence, Meghan ultimately won her privacy case.

Since then, Scobie has made attempts to clarify that he does not have a close relationship with Meghan or Harry.

In June 2023, Scobie testified as a witness in the royal’s new legal trial against a newspaper publisher, revealing that editors were aware of illegal phone hacking within their publications.

During questioning, Scobie emphasized that he has never had Prince Harry’s phone number and has never had any direct contact with him.

He stated that his involvement in the trial was not driven by a desire to further his relationship with the couple, acknowledging that it had given ammunition to critics who accused him of being their friend, spokesperson, and cheerleader.

In his upcoming book for the I Paper, Scobie plans to draw on his experiences to shed light on both the positive and negative aspects of the government and its key figures.

He aims to highlight what they should be proud of and what they should be ashamed of.

With “Final Stage,” Scobie intends to continue his investigative reporting, providing readers with an insider’s perspective on the inner workings of the royal family and the challenges they face in maintaining their public image.
