On Saturday, a topless woman disrupted the funeral of Prince Philip and was subsequently arrested by police officers who were guarding the event.

The unidentified protester ran onto the road outside of St. George’s Chapel while people were still wiping away tears after observing a minute-long moment of silence for the deceased prince.

She shouted “save the planet” as she ran and even attempted to climb the statue of Queen Victoria that was placed outside the chapel.

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, several well-wishers showed up to observe the service, but only 30 close family members and friends were invited to attend the funeral in person.

Prince Philip, who was the longest-serving consort in British history, died on April 9 at the age of 99.

The royal ceremony began with ranks of troops standing in the quadrangle of Windsor Castle with bowed heads.

The coffin, which was covered with Philip’s ceremonial standard, his naval service cap and sword, and a wreath laid by Queen Elizabeth II, was then borne out by eight guardsmen and placed in the bed of his specially designed Land Rover.

Princes Harry and William marched solemnly into the service, but they did not walk side-by-side.

After the service, they were seen talking to each other amiably, which was a positive sign considering they have reportedly had tensions between them for over a year.

A royal source previously told The Daily Telegraph, “They know it is not about them on Saturday – it is about honoring their grandfather’s memory and supporting their grandmother… They will be keen to spend time together as a family, in the same time zone for once.”

The topless protester was swiftly removed from the premises by police officers.

It is unclear what charges, if any, she will face for her actions.

The funeral took place at a time when the world is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic and a growing environmental crisis.
