In a surprising turn of events, the Queen has denied the plea from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to pay off their £250,000 debt.

After reports emerged that the Queen had paid Sophie and Edward an equal amount to relinquish their personal businesses and return to the royal family, the Sussexes sought a similar deal in order to make a comeback to the kingdom after their failed Hollywood endeavors.

However, their request was met with a firm refusal from the Queen.

A new documentary titled “Prince Edward, Will He Change the Royals?”

sheds light on the striking similarities between the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Airing tonight at 9.15pm on Channel 5, the documentary explores the journey of Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son, who has become one of the most prominent members of the British royal family.

It highlights how the 59-year-old father of two was not included in the Buckingham Palace balcony appearance during the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Yet, for his brother King Charles III’s coronation, he stood front and center with his wife, Sophie.

Sophie and Edward, once embroiled in various controversies following their marriage, eventually transformed into hardworking and respected senior royals.

However, their path to redemption was not without hurdles.

Sophie’s boastful claims about her PR firm’s royal connections in the news of the world were met with criticism.

Additionally, Edward and his film company, Ardent, attempted to bypass a ban on filming his nephew, Prince William, at St. Andrews University.

Their reputation suffered further when Edward had a disastrous appearance on It’s a Knockout at Elton Towers in June 1987.

Despite these setbacks, unlike Prince Harry and Meghan, Sophie and Edward decided to wind down their business ventures and fully commit to their royal duties, gradually rebuilding their standing within the royal family.

In 2002, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh reportedly received a one-time payment of £250,000 as compensation for the loss of their controversial business careers.

According to journalist Emily Andrews, who spoke in tonight’s documentary, the Queen effectively asked Edward and Sophie to abandon their careers and become full-time working royals.

As a gesture of goodwill, she provided them with £250,000 as compensation.

Andrews further noted that Prince Harry, like Edward, desired to break free from the traditional constraints of royal life.

However, as Edward discovered, these boundaries are inflexible and challenging to challenge.

Pushing against them too forcefully can result in severe consequences.

In March, following the passing of his late father, Prince Edward was bestowed with the title of Duke of Edinburgh.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams commented on the elevation, stating that it exemplifies how far Edward and Sophie have come.

Sophie has also become a confidant to the new Princess of Wales, who admires her ability to balance royal duties with motherhood.
