The royal family is set to come together over the Easter weekend, with Princess Kate taking on a new role following a reported relaxation of a long-standing tradition by King Charles.

This year, Princess Kate, also known as the Princess of Wales, is expected to assume a new responsibility as King Charles modifies the terms of their customary lunch with the family.

According to a royal expert, the entire royal family will gather for a Sunday lunch during the Easter weekend.

This will be the first Easter without Queen Elizabeth II and will also mark the second anniversary of Prince Philip’s passing.

The expert, Ingrid Seward, predicts that everyone in the family, except Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will be present on Sunday.

This gathering provides an opportunity for them to spend quality time together before King Charles’ coronation in May.

Traditionally, the royal family follows specific meal traditions during the four-day holiday.

They have a fish dinner on Good Friday and attend church at St. George’s Chapel on Sundays, followed by a four-course roast at home.

However, according to Ms. Seward, Charles may relax one of his late mother’s rules.

She explained that the young children will eat in the nursery dining room instead of joining the adults at the table.

The queen had always insisted that they dine at the table only when they could handle a knife and fork properly, but Charles may have eased that restriction.

In addition to her new role, Kate is expected to help organize some activities for the children during the gathering.

Ms. Seward praised Kate as a great organizer and suggested that she will likely arrange an Easter egg hunt for the children.

She also mentioned the possibility of a visit to the Royal Mews to see the horses and an indoor pool for swimming, as well as ponies for the children to ride.

During her reign, Queen Elizabeth II often invited family members to the castle for the long Easter weekend, providing an opportunity for them to spend quality time together away from their busy lives as working royals.

Former royal chef Darren McGrady has previously revealed some secrets from his time cooking Easter dinner for the queen and her relatives.

He emphasized the significance of mealtimes at the castle during the Easter weekend.

On Good Friday, the family traditionally enjoys a fish dinner, followed by a four-course roast on Sunday.

McGrady shared that the main course would be a traditional roast lamb with seasonal vegetables.

Additionally, a compound salad, consisting of lettuce, cucumber, mint, grated carrot, and coriander, is served in a kidney dish attached to the plate.

The queen particularly relishes the freshly made Windsor cheese from the Windsor dairy, which the entire royal family enjoys during lunch rather than dinner.
