The Royal Family has released the list of attendees for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Farewell Service, scheduled for April 17th.

Among the 30 people invited, there is one notable absence that has caught the attention of Royal Watchers – Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, commonly known as Fergie.

The service will be attended by the Queen and late Prince Philip’s four children, as well as their eight grandchildren, including Sarah’s ex-husband Prince Andrew and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their respective spouses.

However, Sarah will not be present at the service and will have to watch it from home, despite her support for the Queen during this difficult time.

Despite her divorce from Andrew, Sarah has been living with him for the past 13 years, leading some to assume that she would be included in the guest list.

However, the reason for her exclusion is believed to be the current Covid restrictions, which limit the number of attendees to 30 select family members.

Buckingham Palace has stated that the Queen had to make some challenging decisions while finalizing the guest list, ensuring that all branches of the Duke’s family were represented.

A spokesman for the Palace emphasized that the funeral remains a family event and that they are following the Covid guidelines.

There are also speculations that Sarah may have been left out due to her reportedly strained relationship with Prince Philip after her separation from Prince Andrew in 1992 and their subsequent divorce in 1996.

It is known that Philip considered her odd and pointless, even requesting her to leave Balmoral, the Royal Estate in Scotland, before his arrival.

Although Sarah was not present at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011, she did receive an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials in 2018.

It is believed that if the Queen could have invited more than 30 guests, she might have included Sarah, as she had a good relationship with her ex-daughter-in-law.

Reports suggest that Sarah has been by the Queen’s side this week, supporting her through the mourning process.

The Sun reveals that Sarah and Prince Andrew have been making regular trips from the Royal Lodge to Windsor Castle, accompanying the Queen on walks with her corgis in the gardens.

The Queen has always held a soft spot for Sarah and considers her an excellent mother.

In the past, Sarah has joined Prince Andrew in Balmoral for the Queen’s traditional summer break and has attended Royal Ascot with Her Majesty.

She was also present at Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston’s wedding in 2019, along with the Queen and Prince Philip.

Notably, Sarah and Prince Philip were photographed together for the first time in 26 years during Princess Eugenie’s wedding in 2018.

Sarah has previously spoken about her close bond with the Queen in her autobiography, referring to her as “Mama” in private moments.

Despite their separation, the Queen reportedly urged Sarah to reconsider and be strong when the couple decided to part ways in 1992.

While Sarah will not be physically present at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Farewell Service, it is clear that she remains a significant figure in the Queen’s life, providing support and companionship during this period of mourning.
