Rod Stewart, who wowed the crowd at the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday, expressed his disappointment over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s treatment of the Queen prior to their unexpected departure from the royal family.

The renowned musician delivered a memorable performance at the pop concert, which was part of the extensive Platinum Jubilee celebrations, captivating royal enthusiasts gathered outside Buckingham Palace.

The audience of BBC Radio 2 selected Rod Stewart’s rendition of “Sweet Caroline” as a tribute to the Queen.

However, it seems that the musician himself would not have chosen the track.

He playfully introduced the song by stating, “This isn’t a fun one to sing, but the BBC made me sing it.

Despite his reservations, the esteemed guests, including Prince William and his son Prince George, enthusiastically sang along.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, joined in the excitement, eagerly waving their Union Jack flags.

Numerous members of the royal family attended the star-studded event on Saturday.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Moppelli Mozzi, Zara and Mike Tindall, and Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Lawrence were among the notable guests.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who traveled from overseas to join the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, were noticeably absent.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated that they chose to spend the day privately.

On that same day, their daughter Lilibet Diana celebrated her first birthday, and it was reported that the couple threw a party for her.

Before their departure from the royal family in 2020, Rod Stewart had already criticized Meghan and Harry for skipping Christmas in Sandringham.

In December 2019, he expressed his disappointment, saying, “The Queen is 93.

I flew round the world to be with my mum and dad at Christmas because I knew they didn’t have many left.

I was disappointed Harry and Meghan decided not to spend Christmas with the Queen.

If I was Harry, I’d think there was plenty of time in the future to have Christmases on my own or with Meghan’s mum.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted to spend the holiday season in Canada with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Their spokesperson stated that they were looking forward to extended family time at the end of that month.

Speculation arose before their return for the Jubilee that Meghan and Harry might overshadow the monarch and her accomplishments, potentially even being accompanied by a Netflix film crew documenting their lives.

However, it was later confirmed that they would not be filming for their docuseries.

As the Queen and senior royals enjoyed the grand finale of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly already on a plane heading back to Los Angeles, completing a swift departure from the UK.

They arrived just an hour before the royals made their final appearance during the four-day event.

On Sunday, June 5, as the pageant commenced, the couple, along with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, had already left Frogmore Cottage and departed from Farnborough Airport at 1:30 pm, according to The Sun.

Experts have claimed that Harry is struggling to accept his new role as a second-row royal, and some royal fans observed Meghan’s apparent snub towards Kate Middleton.

An insider revealed, “There was no fanfare, they just went.”

The cost of their trip, estimated at around £160,000, remains unclear, as it is unknown who covered the expenses.
