With no children of his own, the throne passed to Queen Elizabeth’s father, who became King George VI.

King George VI had two children, Elizabeth and Margaret.
Being females, their chances of inheriting the throne were not guaranteed.
However, King George made the decision to name Elizabeth as the heir apparent to the throne.
This decision could have been overturned if King George had a male child during his reign.
Fortunately for Queen Elizabeth, this did not happen.
King George VI passed away without a male heir, and Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne, becoming Queen Elizabeth II.
Little did anyone know that she would go on to rule for an astonishing 70 years, becoming the longest-reigning and most beloved British monarch in history.
Queen Elizabeth’s journey to the throne was not only remarkable but also transformative.
She abolished the tradition that prevented a female from becoming monarch if there was a male heir.
This change in the law means that all heirs born after 2011, regardless of gender, have an equal chance of becoming monarch.
