Prince William, the heir to the British throne, had a busy week launching his Homewards project.

During his visit to Northern Ireland, memories of his grandfather, Prince Philip’s trip in 2008, resurfaced.

The Prince was captivated when he heard an unforgettable tale about Prince Philip’s visit to the same Belfast mission that he was promoting for his homecoming campaign earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Prince William visited the Skeinos Centre in Northern Ireland, which has been chosen as one of six pilot sites for his five-year project to end homelessness.

During his visit, he was regaled with a story about how the East Belfast Mission secured funding to build the centre, thanks to a pointed comment made by the late Duke of Edinburgh.

Back in March 2008, during a visit to Northern Ireland’s capital, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were informed about the plans to construct the Skeinos Centre.

Curious as to why construction hadn’t yet started, Prince Philip asked why they hadn’t received the necessary funds.

Upon learning that there was insufficient money to proceed, Philip turned to the politicians and suggested, “Why don’t you just give them the big money?”.

The Methodist minister who shared this tale with Prince William admitted to altering the story slightly, mentioning, “There was an expletive, but I wouldn’t say it.”

Surprisingly, three weeks later, the required funds miraculously appeared.

Prince William chuckled at the anecdote and remarked, “That sounds like my grandfather.”

During his tour outside the centre, Prince William engaged with well-wishers, shaking hands and conversing with them.

He spoke fondly of the Reverend, who used to share stories about his grandfather.

Additionally, the Royal Family was seen conversing with a fan who praised Refresh Cafe at the charity site.

Prince William asked the fan, “Were you waiting for my frying pan?”

to which he replied, “There’s a fry waiting for the people.

I’ve got to get out there.”

In an unexpected moment, a Royal fan appeared overly excited when Prince William approached him.

It seemed as though he attempted to playfully punch the Prince in the face and touch his cheek.

However, Prince William remained unfazed by the reaction, understanding the fan’s intentions were affectionate and lighthearted.

He proceeded to hug and kiss other members of the audience and posed for photos, with one woman exclaiming, “It smells lovely.”

Prince William’s visit to Belfast was part of his UK tour to launch Homewoods, presented by the Royal Foundation.

This tour involved visiting six locations across the country within a span of 48 hours.

In Belfast, Prince William met with initial members of the coalition being formed through Homewoods.
