Prince Harry Receives £500 Compensation in Phone Hacking Lawsuit

Prince Harry has been awarded just £500 in compensation from Mirror Group newspapers MGN, according to the publisher’s lawyer at the High Court.

MGN is currently facing a lawsuit over alleged unlawful information gathering at its titles, which include the Mirror, Sunday Mirror, and Sunday People.

The Duke of Sussex, however, is contesting the claims, arguing that some have been submitted too late.

During the closing argument, Andrew Green, KC, representing MGN, stated that there was only one instance of admitted unlawful information gathering concerning Prince Harry in February 2004.

Green further argued that the Duke of Sussex should only be awarded a maximum of £500, as the single invoice naming him pertains to inquiries on an isolated occasion, with the small sum of £75 suggesting limited inquiries.

Earlier this month, Prince Harry appeared visibly distressed in the High Court, admitting “I don’t know” 18 times during his intense questioning.

As part of the phone hacking case against Mirror Group newspapers, the royal seemed uncertain throughout his testimony.

He also responded with “I don’t remember” nine times during the proceedings.

Prince Harry revealed that he decided to pursue legal action against tabloid newspapers after a chance encounter in France.

He explained that he bumped into David Sherborn around 2018, which led to discussions about possible claims against MGN.

Prior to consulting lawyers, the Duke of Sussex had no concerns regarding specific articles resulting from unlawful activity.

He emphasized that he was never shown anything and that it was all contained within the palace.

In another blow to the Sussexes, their terminated Spotify podcast deal, initially expected to bring in $15 million, has faced criticism from the streaming platform.

The couple has been labeled as “grifters,” and insiders suggest their efforts were insufficient.

Consequently, their Netflix deal, estimated to be worth around $20 million, is now at risk due to underwhelming performance.

In an attempt to explore alternative avenues, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have turned their attention to becoming fashion brand influencers on social media, particularly with Dior.

However, their endeavors have yet to yield significant results.

The dismissal from Spotify came after allegations surfaced that a producer conducted interviews for their podcast, with Meghan’s voice added in post-production to create the impression that she conducted the conversations.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that Meghan Markle was disappointed to discover that Prince Harry was not as wealthy as she had imagined when they first met.

In Tom Bauer’s book, “Revenge, Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors,” Meghan is described as being money-obsessed.

She had anticipated that Prince Harry would possess immense wealth, but this turned out not to be the case.

It has been suggested that she pushed him to sue the tabloids for compensation, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

As the Sussexes face setbacks in their pursuit of financial stability without the support of Spotify and Netflix deals, their future plans remain uncertain.
