Prince Harry Loses Royal Role After Eviction from Frogmore Cottage
Prince Harry is facing another setback in his royal journey as he is set to lose yet another role following his eviction from Frogmore Cottage, the official base for him and his wife Meghan Markle in the UK.
This news comes as a blow to the couple, as it means Harry can no longer act as a Councillor of State if King Charles is unable to fulfill his duties as Monarch.
Today, on June 30th, the Sussexes were required to vacate the Windsor property, with their remaining possessions being shipped to their new home in Montecito, California.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams spoke to The Sun, highlighting the significance of losing their UK residence without a replacement.
He emphasized that this loss prevents Harry from fulfilling his role as a Councillor of State, which he had the right to do in the event of the King’s incapacitation.

Unfortunately, by not having a UK residence, Harry has forfeited this opportunity.
Furthermore, Fitzwilliams explained that if the couple doesn’t have a UK residence when Prince William ascends to the throne, Harry will be unable to support his brother, although he does not currently fulfill this role.
Councillors of State are typically composed of four royals next in line to the throne who are over the age of 21, along with the monarch’s spouse.
The official Councillors of State were Queen Camilla, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, and Princess Beatrice.
However, last year, Charles proposed adding Princess Anne and Prince Edward to the list.
Due to Harry and Andrew stepping back as working royals, the King requested an amendment to the 1937 Regency Act, which outlines the role and responsibilities of the Councillors of State.
The proposed change was read out to the House of Lords, stating that including Anne and Edward would ensure the continued efficiency of public business during the King’s absence, particularly while undertaking official duties overseas.
With the loss of Frogmore Cottage, Harry and Meghan will now have to reach a private agreement with the King if they wish to stay at any royal residences in the future.
It is worth noting that Harry recently stayed at Frogmore during a three-day visit to London for a court case.
