When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the bold decision to step away from the royal family, they were met with mixed reactions.

Seen as rebels breaking free from the confines of tradition, many expected them to achieve great things.

Now, three years later, let’s take a closer look at what the Sussex couple has accomplished since their departure.

One of their initial plans was to settle in Canada, while still maintaining ties with the United Kingdom.

However, this arrangement didn’t last long as local residents began to resent the cost of providing security for the Sussex family, especially when there were no tangible benefits being brought to the country.

Thus, their first point of the plan was deemed a failure, and Harry and Meghan eventually relocated to California, rarely visiting the UK.

Initially, the Duke and Duchess did not immediately achieve financial independence.

Queen Elizabeth II continued to support her grandson for a period of time, but this drew criticism from society.

Eventually, Prince Charles stepped in and provided assistance from his personal funds for a year.

It was only when this source of funding dried up that Harry and Meghan fully embraced self-sufficiency.

They now cover their expenses through contracts with online platforms and their media ventures.

Speaking of contracts, the Sussex couple signed a major deal with Netflix in 2020, estimated to be worth $100 million by experts.

However, the first of the promised three projects was only released at the end of 2022.

The series, titled “Harry and Meghan,” garnered over 80 million viewing hours during its first week, making it the most successful documentary premiere on the platform.

In the same year, the couple also secured another significant contract with streaming service Spotify.

Despite delays, their podcast “Archetypes with Meghan” finally debuted in August 2022 and quickly climbed the charts in both the UK and the US.

However, Prince Harry has yet to fulfill his commitment to Spotify.

While Meghan Markle had aspirations of returning to her acting career, Hollywood executives have been hesitant to take a risk on the prince’s wife, whose name often makes negative headlines.

Thus, her goal remains unrealized for now.

Charitable work was a key promise the couple made after stepping down from their royal duties.

They wasted no time in registering the company Archwell, which includes their non-profit charitable foundation.

However, in its first year, the foundation’s expenses outweighed its income, and the funds raised were relatively modest compared to the couple’s star status.

During this period, they raised less than $50,000 while spending over $55,000 on legal proceedings alone.

Recently, the foundation’s activity has increased, with partnerships formed with various organizations worldwide, including those supporting the Ukrainian people.

It is uncertain what lies ahead for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Their popularity remains high, and every word they utter still captures the attention of millions.

However, the public’s interest in the couple’s revelations may eventually wane.

How long will Harry and Meghan be able to monetize their memories of the royal family?

Only time will tell.

As we delve into their post-royal life, it’s important to note that their journey is far from over.

While they have faced challenges and setbacks along the way, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue to forge their own path, leaving an indelible mark on the world stage.
