Meghan Markle allegedly remained at home in Santa Barbara, California, and did not accompany Harry to London for Prince Philip’s funeral because she “want to be the center of attention,” according to sources linked to the Duchess.

Markle didn’t want to make headlines at such a difficult moment, according to her friends, as the fallout from her and Harry’s fiery interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, which raked the British royal family over the coals, persists.

They also said Meghan said that “attending or not attending Prince Philip’s funeral isn’t going to change her relationship with the Queen. She said the Queen understands her absence and would want her to stay safe and healthy for the baby She mentioned that the Queen respects her absence and wishes for her to remain secure and stable for the sake of the baby.”

According to them, Markle sees the funeral as a way for her husband to attempt to repair his rift with his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles without her present.

According to the Mail, Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, was adamant that her daughter not travel to England for the funeral due to health issues, but the pals said Harry eventually decided whether or not his wife would participate.

On Sunday (April 11), the Duke of Sussex was seen landing at Heathrow Airport in London without his pregnant wife. Around 1:15GMT, he was seen exiting a British Airways flight from Los Angeles, clad in chinos, a hat, and a black face mask.

He was initially greeted by security officials at the airport, and he was later seen getting into a black Land Rover that drove him to Kensington Palace.
